Unfortunately does not seem to work on my Firefox 3.6.13 in FIN.
Installs and sends the search to google.com, but google redirects the request to google.fi, which ends up answering the request.
Hence, not working 6.2.2011.
YMMV.

I believe I have tried about 10 different "Google" search add-ons. This one did it. ... Finally.
Most of the Google search engines continue to search in other languages or worst of all "reset the search preferences". This one is brilliant and does exactly everything I was hoping for.
I live in Europe and my job moves me around a lot and even though I can speak several languages - when searching - I usually need the information now. The last thing I need is an Amsterdam hotel in "French" or a particular London Pub location near Charing Cross underground-tube station in "German".
Hopefully, one day you can come up for Google searches that search only in that particular language/country: Google.DE, Google.FR, Google.NL, etc. - when Google went international all travellers and visitors world-wide became a little bit frustrated.

I like this because the default Google search bar on Firefox leads to the Firefox start page of Google. This means I won't be able to see any of Google's special holiday/occasion designs on the home page! This search bar brings me right to plain 'ol Google and that's what I want. Works wonderfully, thank you.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (20100627).I'm glad you found it useful, Kat. One thing, though: this search engine won't prevent you from seeing Google's Holiday Logos when you visit the Google homepage. You might not be seeing some Local Google Holiday Logos if you're using "google.com" while outside the US. But, since searching takes you straight to a results page, you'll be skipping the home screen altogether. Must admit that I am a fan of the Google logo variations, though.

Thank you very much for the explanations too. Not all people lives in the USA, but the Google results in English are the most serious, in the right sense.

ah, OK then, it is useful after all, especially if it switches the search box too (because it does that, right?)
Yes, I hate to rate stuff without testing, I wanted to just post a comment but the form wants a rating.
Well, OK, I'm trying it for the search box thing. If I dont post any more, assume that it works as expected and I'm happy with it (or, that i've been banned/muted/whatevered)

It's about time Google themselves came up with something like this. But seeing that they probably won't, this is a very welcome add-on. Thanks portuguesemike!

This is EXACTLY what I wanted. Believe me I was very frustrated by getting my right click search results in google.co.** sites.
This Add-on saved a lot of time and frustrations.
HURRAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Good. I never liked to be redirected to whatever page depending on the country I happen to be.
And now that I am filtering out the damned new Google sidebar it helps to
match always the same URL.
Thanks.

It does what it says. My only issue is a similar Google in English search add-on [Google (Language: EN) posted by Jeremy Morton] which existed before this one was released, and I like that one more. I've tried both. I see a small difference in an extra line of text (useless), but the search were always results are identical. The reason I prefer the other one is that the icon is different than the usually Google search engine icon, which makes it easier to distinguish. At the time of writing this, version 20091121, has the same icon, so I get them mixed up.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (20091121).Thanks for the Review Mr Spartan.
Jeremy Morton's add-on was, in fact, the first add-on I reviewed and also the last one I tried before giving up and uploading one that did what I wanted it to. The difference between the two does lie mainly in the results. Jeremy's add-on searches for English webpages by default. If you try searching in any other language, the differences should become more obvious. I wanted a site that didn't restrict the results, whichever the language of the query. I wanted an English-only interface, not English-only results. Moreover, I wanted Google.com, wherever in the world i might be, not just an English version of a local site. If you're only interested in English and American results, Jeremy's add-on is perfect for you (no discredit to him or his add-on). As for the icon, "always '.com'" uses whichever favicon Google.com is using at the time of install.

I don't get any search suggestions with this extension.
Google US search plugin from Mycroft page has it, though:
http://mycroft.mozdev.org/google-search-plugins.html
Thanks for the feedback.
Google Suggest is language-specific and this add-on is aimed at people of any nationality who simply prefer using google.com or want consistency while they travel.
I uploaded a version of this add-on with English suggestions from Google Suggest (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/67149/). It says it's experimental, but it's exactly the same as this one except for the suggestions. Don't forget to have the "Show search suggestions" switched on in the "Manage Search Engines..." options panel if you use it.
