Using this addon, I had the unhide/hide after sync bug and I also couldn't accept invites scanned from my emails.
I took the advice from another reviewer and instead used the approach detailed here: https://www.ubuntubuzz.com/2017/07/how-to-setup-thunderbird-for-google-calendar-caldav-read-write-access.html to setup read-write access.
This approach worked perfectly, and I can use all the lightning features in my google calendars with no issue.

David, see my January 19 review. CalDAV is easy to set up.

Hi, I'm a longtime user of Thunderbird/Lightning. The recent inability to write to google calendar is a game-ender for me, and I imagine others. Can anyone recommend a workaround for this? I have not been able to find any solutions. I need to be able to accept calendar invites and be able to modify google calendar from Thunderbird.

Please resolve the continuing issues with Thunderbird read/write access for gmail. Every time I see a supposed fix advertised I attempt the fix and it appears to work for one or two times of cycling thunderbird then thunderbird locks up my entire laptop. It takes a few hours to reconfigure thunderbird calendar so that I can continue to use thunderbird just for email. This is extremely frustrating.
Please, if there really is a way successfully to add gmail to thunderbird, will someone who really knows publish succinct, step-by-step instructions.

Gave up on this add-on.
Just follow the procedure that Greg supplied in his comments on jan 19th 2021 for the CALDAV method.
That works fine.

Getting "No writable calendar" when trying to add a new event from a mail. So, not working :(

Not working. Says that there is no writable calendar and even changing the config every start, the event updates are not working fine.

I have Thunderbird 78.6.0 installed. This extension doesn't work properly. I can connect google calendar but it doesn't synchronize, and if by any luck it shows my items in calendar, they disappear after I close Thunderbird.

It´s good, but it´s not working at 100%
Adding / editing / deleting events in google calendar works, but it won´t add event from an email because: "No writable calendars are configured for invitations..."
I would highly appreciate this feature because that´s main reason I wanted to try this addon.
If someone can help me with this, it would be great.

Version 78.0.1 (just installed on a fresh new Thunderbird installation) :
Unlike what others say, it does NOT work with Thunderbird 78.6.0. More exactly;
- display the google agenda works
- adding a received invitation DOES NOT work : message "No writable calendars are configured for invitations"
- adding participants to a new meeting DOES NOT work, after the event is saved and closed they are not saved nor do they receive a notification.
It was the best google agenda provider but it is broken for months now since recent releases of thunderbird 78.
So I tried to use Provider for CALDAV, it is a little harder to setup since one must find the URL of the Google agenda, but it works.
The URL is https://apidata.googleusercontent.com/caldav/v2/yourID/events where 'yourID' is the calendar ID given by google in the agenda settings.

Now working perfectly with version 78.6
For months, I had suffered the frustration along with many others regarding this superb add on's incompatibility, but can happily report that now it functions absolutely fine with the latest Thunderbird update.

das Beste aus der "google"- Reihe!

used to work great until thunderbird updated, now it doesn't auto sync, every time I start Thunderbird I have to click the hide /show icon next to the particular calendar. Uninstalling /reinstalling to latest version doesn't make any difference, also seem very slow to sync when I add a new entry, I get the rotating circle for about 30 seconds while it updates.

Fix for disabled calendars
- Remove the add-on Provider for Google Calendar. No need to unsubscribe to the calendars.
- Restart Thunderbird.
- Reinstall the add-on Provider for Google Calendar.
- Boom!

Adding invitees to calendar events still does not work. Been an issue now for over a month. Report issues at Github, not here. Once this fix is complete, this is a 5-star app.

This add-in continues to lose sync with my Google Calendar. When will this get fixed?
