It does what it claims. I've installed "Use Bcc Instead" successfully for Thunderbird running on Windows 7 and Linux, but since I usually use SeaMonkey for my email needs, I'd love to see this extension adapted to work with SeaMonkey, too!

This addon was great for me, thanks David!!

Sometimes I found myself on chrome/firefox browser wish this addon would be available on there. Then I found a Gmail-Auto-BCC extension on this links http://blog.afteroffers.com/automatically-bcc-gmail-emails-chrome-extension/
I've been using it for a while, it's the best addon for auto Bcc on Google mail.

No flash, no splash, just does the job for you. Love it- set it up once and forget about it. Only improvement I could suggest (would give it 5 stars): auto fill the checkbox in the popup window when it appears- sometimes don't want all BCC so haven't set to always do it, and too easy to skip through that when keyboarding- done it twice. *5 stars as promised- that solution is even better than my suggestion.

Had a second request for something like this. Rather than burden all with having the checkbox set by default, I changed the addon to "remember" the last set state of that checkbox and restore the last state next time the dialog is displayed. So if it gets set at least once and not un-checked by the user at some point, it would appear checked by default.

I have been using this add-on since I read about it... once you make all your settings to function the way you want it works very very good... it has reminded me many times... have been using it nine months and I recommend it to everyone :-)

Thank you so much, David! This should have been provided in Thunderbird all along, but since it wasn't it's great that someone with your insight and programming skill could realize the need and fill it! Works perfectly to meet the privacy needs of many of my friends who'd rather not spread their email address around too far.

Thank you; very useful for my newsletter mailings. However, what I would really like is to be able to individually set Address Book Lists to BCC only. Is that possible for a future release?

And, as a datapoint, runs perfectly with TB v17.0.2 under Ubuntu Linux v12.04 LTS

Era quello che cercavo da tempo. Spesso la fretta mi ha fatto spedire e mail con indirizzi in chiaro quando non dovevo.

Does not load says incompatible with 13.0.1

Not sure what's happening here. Reviews are not the best place to report/resolve problems. That is why you can click on my name on the addon's page and then send email. Please note that this does run on my TB 13.0.1 on Windows XP.

Hi, email just send ;-)
§§§
hello, just a little feature request : it would be nice if you could add just a simple option to choose to always send with bbc (default). thanks for the job.

You asked for it, you got it. Available now in version 1.4. Thanks for your suggestion. You have been added to the contributor list.

This is one of the tools that are so useful and simple that you wonder why the feature is not included in the Thunderbild core itself. Sending out an email to loads of people with the recipients' addresses visible to everyone is not just very annoying, it can be a major breach of privacy protection. With this add-on installed, it just can't accidentally happen anymore.

The settings enable you to define your own level of restriction: You can set the maximum number of recipients in the "To" and "CC" fields that may pass without warning (10 by default), and you can choose wether you want to be just warned (default) or stopped when that limit is exceeded.

There's only one item left on my wishlist:
For some reason that is a mystery to me, Thunderbird still doesn't have a built-in mail redirect (= bounce) function, so an add-on, usually Mail Redirect, is required to fulfil this basic task. When one bounces mails using Mail Redirect, the Use Bcc Instead add-on doesn't work. I have no idea wether it would be complicated to make the two add-ons work together, but that would make it perfect.

For your review. I wrote this to"fix" a problem a client was having with an employee who was not paying attention. I am glad others find it of value.

I am not familiar with the Mail Redirect addon or how it works or why this addon doesn't play nicely with it. But I know that this addon doesn't work properly with the excellent Send Later 3 addon. I have communicated with the author of that addon and perhaps we can find a way to resolve this. However, there are technical difficulties that may prevent addons which work by intercepting mail send event from ever getting along perfectly. I guess there are always limitations.
