One of the most useful addons I've ever found!!! Thanks a lot!!!

I thought it wasn't working when I was trying to run it while viewing a message in the Unified Inbox. So it's motivated me to try a workflow using this setting: Menu > Folders > All.

Thank you for this add-on, which does exactly what it should.
The screen shot provided here confused me for a second since it not only shows the button of this add-on, but also that of your other add-on. I’d recommend either making separate screen shots or at least clarify in the caption what’s shown here.

Hello everyone,
This does not work for me.
I'm on the 24.6.0 release of TB. When I click on the yellow button "Run filter on folders" > nothing happens. No menu appears, no bar or any form to filter my folders.
There's there something I did not understand?
Can you help me?
Sorry for my english, I'm French.

Hey Epseud,

Sorry to hear that...
Let's get back to understand how this plugin works....

As the description say...
[This is] "Just a very simple add-on that adds a toolbar button to execute the "Run Filters on Folders" from Tools menu."

What it means is that this is just a button that you can add to your toolbar that will perform the same action as if you would click on the Tools menu and then "Run Filters on Folders".

The most important thing, I guess, is that you have to have some filters defined for folders in your Inbox.

If you have them, and they work when you go through the Tools menu, but do not work when you use the button, please let me know and I can investigate further.

Thanks,
Chris

This works very well and is very useful.
I have 2 feature requests:
1 - could it be possible to apply the filter to the subfolders? I have an archive dating back to 1998; per year/per month. It would be great to apply a filter to all of these folders.
2 - is there a possibility to have a button instead of the option in tools? That would make it so much easier.
But thanks for the nice work anyway.

Hey topsoftbe,
Thanks for the review...
As for the requests...
#1 I would have to look into it, as it's been quite some time since I have developed this extension.
#2 - I'm not sure if I understand... this extension IS the button... all you have to do is to right click on the mail toolbar and customize it. The Folder Filters Button will be there. You cab then just drag it to the toolbar.

Very userful addon. If there is a shortcut key it will be more helpful

Works like a charm. Would you please make a monochrome version icon? Ubuntu users would prefer a black-white icon.

Hi,
Could this work with specific folders? I have already created filters on all sent folders and would like to run all with one click? Would this be possible?
thanks

UPDATE: Thanks for responding, Chris. I've got it working now. I tried running the command via the tools menu and it still didn't work. So, I deleted and recreated the filter in question and it worked right away. I don't know what the issue was, but all is well now. Changing my review to 5 stars, as this seems to be some sort of random Thunderbird glitch, not related to your add-on. Thanks for following up!

I'm afraid it didn't work for me. Running Thunderbird v13 on Windows Vista. Clicking button does nothing. No error messages. I'll be happy to revise this review if I can get it to work; it's a neat idea.

Im sorry to hear it doesn't work for you.
I have tested it on many different platform and did not have any issues.
It is very strange that is does not work for you, as all this plugin does, it is the same as clicking on the tools menu and run filters on folder.
Do your filters work fine when run via the tools menu?

Have a good one,
Chris

Took me a second to find the button, but now that I have it added- it's awesome!

My only request would be to add the option of filtering subfolders, which I'm sure you've heard before. Add that feature and you'd have a million adoring customers!

Chris, this is a WONDERFUL extension. It saves me so much time on a daily basis. However, the yellow icon in my toolbar stands out like a sore thumb and distracts me. How can I change it to gray? Can you add a "gray icon" option via a new preferences setting? THANK YOU!

Thanks for a great review.
I am planning to combine my both add-ons, "Folder Filters Button" and "Message Filters Button" into one add-on in the next version.
I will try to add settings option with perhaps few different colours of icons.

add on shows only Folder Filters button, there's no Message Filters button options...

thank you Chris, I thought it contains it too because the screen shot shows it. i'll add it when it's available, thanks!

The Message Filters Button is actually a separate add-on.
Since I wrote it just few days ago it might not be yet available on add-ons site.
THanks,
Chris

This Add-On works great and almost does what I want. Is it possible to make a button that would 'Run Filters on Message' instead of 'Run Filters on Folder'. Thanks!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.2).

I have noticed that many people actually asked for something similar.
I have just finished creating button for that purpose and will publish it later today.
It is called Message Filters Button.

I have also updated the original Filters Button with new name Folder Filters Button and matching icons.

Have a good one,
Chris

Very nice, manual filters are finally convenient (why this isn't native to TBird is a major mystery). I have a sparse toolbar, but my core belief is that there should be a button available for EVERY menu command, even if nobody would use all of them. With this, half of what I have needed is achieved. Now, how about a button to run filters on the individual MESSAGE?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.2).

Hey,
Thanks for a nice review.
As for your "request" if you would let me know what exactly you mean by "filters on the individual MESSAGE" I could probably integrate that into my add-on.
Take care,
Chris

Darn handy. You may wish to point out that the install does nothing and the preferences are inactive. To use, one must open the toolbar customization to manually add the button. Thanks for the helpful fix this addon provides.
