I had to download the .xpi provided in a user review (Mint's, from Sep 15, 2012). The link from firefox doesn't work (login failure) and caused me to waste a lot of time trying to define a new profile.
In the past I've had opportunity to use an older version; and I basically liked the way it worked, even if I had to update the .xpi manually to make it accept recent versions of FF.
So there's a recurrent distrib problem with this app.
And I've now had opportunity to see that the latest version doesn't properly handle Google multiple accounts (logging in to one account sometimes kicks me out of another). So I'm going to install Gmail Watcher instead. It doesn't do automatic logging; but does well what it claims to do.

отстой. Все верно и логин и пароль - но не подключается и не проверяет почту. Все дело в 5 баксах? да пошли бы вы нах, капиталисты фуевы.

I should give the developer more than 5 stars (or more than USD5). I really should.
Although I also did not understand why the download link in FF add ons did not work (I use v 15.0.1).
Yeah I tried it and it keeps asking for our Gmail password right?
Well I am so happy now and the only suggestions are:
1. I have 2 gmail accounts and maybe its better to have 2 icons separately so i know when i get a new email on each account --> actually it did! I just forgot to set one on the FF toolbar and one on nav-bar. Now i have them both side by side on the toolbar. Great!! ^_^
2. I think the mail snippets (when new mail arrives) is a bit too fast :) not a big deal.
3. It would be great if you can make a panel where i can read or reply the email without having to open a new tab every time i click the icon.
4. It would be better if the new email notifier (blue color) automatically updated/reset right after i read the email. Just minor request.
I think that's about it and hope you will keep continue this add on and prove to all other people that it works! it really works!!

I'm betting it only works with specific versions of FireFox. Usually when people suggest donations they make an effort to appear coherent whether in creation or what they stand for. This app made me kinda upset, it URKED me so much I just had to say something.

How can FF have an extension that does not work? Yea, I saw that note from someone who "found" an upgrade that works. It should work out of the box or not be offered. Sorry.

This is an amazing application, but for some people.. It just won't login to their account!
I found that there is a site to another download, then an updated download, but both of them both send me to a 404 error.
Luckily for everyone here, I found the latest update (from what I know) here!

It works for me, atleast. And I was having the same problems.

This add on does not does any of its stated features at all and does not log in to any given gmail account.
Please repair or fix it or remove it from the add-on directory.
Also I've realized that many users reported this login error issue so many times before mine now and still no response.
DO NOT DOWNLOAD OR USE BECAUSE IT DOES NOT LOGIN.

Having just switched to Firefox I was looking for a add-on to replace the Gmail checker that I'd had when I was using Chrome. This one seemed perfect but never logged into my account no matter how many times I tried.

While recently looking for an option to monitor multiple gmail accounts this addon was recommended in an article linked in a search.
Unfortunately it doesn't work at all, as it fails to log into my accounts.

Like the addon but it needs to be updated. Does not work with google's 2 step verification, you won't be notified of new emails if this is enabled on your gmail account.

Before you critisize : this is the best Gmail account manager on FF. Thing is it WAS, cause it is now not maintained anymore.
But as it is really a nice addon, Erik Nedwidek proposed its fork "Gmail Manager NG" that makes it working for current versions of FF.
