Drag and drop upload and download works fine for me - this is a very cool and fast add-on. Still checking support site for info on advanced features.

It's great, it does everything you need from a FTP program.
and it's free. What more do you want?

Lots of documentation about uploading files, but nothing about how to search for and connect with ftp servers for purposes of downloading. Because of this lack, I'm looking to reconnect with SimpleFTP.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0).Here are some beginner guides:

This add-on is wonderful, thank you very much. I find there is a very small step for this add-on to be perfect. I want to transfer a file from one server to another. But your add-on doesn't work this way. So I have download first, and then upload. What a perfect add-on it will be if it can FXP things between two servers.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.99.2).FXP is included with FireFTP (although slightly experimental). Right click on a file on a remote server and you'll see FXP in the menu. From there you can select an account to transfer the file to.

I have been using Fireftp for a while under windows. Recently started using Kubuntu linux which installs Firefox version 3.0b5. Trying to load the plugin I get the error that the extension is not recognized and does not install. Is there a fix for this?
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.99.2).You need to upgrade to Firefox 3.0 - it won't work for the beta version anymore.

thanks for your reply on July 5th. I'll try that :-)
Be sure to have Remember passwords enabled under Tools->Options. Also in your Firefox preferences under Security make sure the same option is enabled as well.

why not support chinese font? I wait for a long time.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.99.2).You might have to change the encoding you are working with to download the file. Go to Account Manager->Advanced->Server Encoding and perhaps try West European->Western (ISO-8859-1) or whatever region the server might be located in (e.g. Chinese servers tend to use East Asian->Chinese Simplified (GB18030))

I'm giving it a 4 rather than a 5 only because I'm newly using it. Installed v. 97 to FF 2.0.0.15 and in less than 5 minutes I had uploaded a file to geocities, which has a 5MG upload limit. Now, I don't have to worry about that, thanks to FireFTP. :)
Understand, I didn't even know how to use FTP until today. I was afraid I'd have to use FrontPage or Dreamweaver to use FTP. Now, I don't have to! (I write all my webpages from scratch, in Word, and I don't let Word configure them as html, so didn't want FrontPage or Dreamweaver, either.)
Thanks!

I really love this extension - but since FF3 I've got problems with uploading jpg or swf files - the files on may webserver cannot be used: jpg's are shown, but the image is destroyed, swf's can't be played.
is this a known bug? can anybody tell me why this happens?
You might be in ASCII mode - try going to Tools->Options->Downloads/Uploads and selecting Binary mode
