It works exactly as intended. (I tested with the atomic-chrome plugin for Emacs on GNU/Linux.)

It would however be great if we could choose whether the message is edited as HTML or plain text on the Emacs side; currently, the message content appears to always be sent as HTML, even if Thunderbird is configured to send plaintext messages. Which is likely an issue with Thunderbird and not this plugin, but it might be possible to work around it.
