In case you have trouble figuring out how to use it, as I did: Go into the Options for the add-on. Choose the "Sort folders" tab at the top. Make an appropriate choice in the first drop-down field. Then (and this is the part I had trouble with): instead of the default "Use Thunderbird's default" in the second drop-down field, you must choose "Use a manually defined sort function."
