This was once an essential addon for me! There is a TB setting if you don't want the addon to do it:
TB menu > General > Reading & Display > Close message window/tab on move or delete

This is a very much appreciated addon. I'm always looking for ways to automate things in order to minimize the number of keypresses or mouse clicks I have to make, and this addon really helps in that regard. In addition, the developer was very responsive to a couple of issues I was having and they were resolved in very short order.
