Please update this plugin. I tried modifying the xpi/install.rdf which allows me to install it on 17.x but it doesn't work I get a javascript error.

Works fairly good, although there should be an option to only count unread emails, excluding the RSS suscriptions.
Appart from that, it's a great plugin if you use Thunderbird in Unity.
