" [Announcement] GNotifier on Thunderbird 60 #207
Dear GNotifier's friends,
Mozilla has just released Thunderbird 60. This new release comes with many improvements and new exciting features. It is a major update that also introduces some changes in add-ons area. Those changes have negative impact on GNotifier.
Unfortunately, in current form, GNotifier can't be run on TB 60.
There are at least two major issues that I've identified:
Options panel has to be rewritten to standalone version (so called "option type 3")
TB60 doesn't support extensions written with Add-on SDK framework (so called "jetpack extensions")
Because of the above and having very limited time, I don't see any other option but to close this project. I can't continue to support GNotifier any more :-( "

Hopefully the dev is still active and will update it to work with Thunderbird 60.
It makes notifications look at home in Windows 10.

Love it, works really nicely with the notifications.
The UI (settings) aren't *too nice* to operate, but it does the job.

Woks fine in Thunderbird 52.6, can you make persistent notificatión in Win 10 action center?
Funciona en Thunderbird 52.6, ¿Puedes hacer la notificación persistente en el Centro de acciones de Win 10?

Sadly and I think not on purpose it simply does nothing.
Not even the test button within the addon will do anything and Thunderbird brings up its own notifier.
I tried the system thing, then an own terminal command... nothing works. What a pity.
Using newest Thunderbird on Linux Arch.

Awesome add-on, this is right now probably the best way of configuring how Thunderbird notifications are handled.
Feature request: an additional option provided by this add-on could be to raise the urgent notification flag when new messages arrive. This effects e.g. the i3 wm, where the workspace indicator should be highlighted on new messages (but by default is not).
GNotify already provides functionality for raising the urgent notification flag (but it is more than just ticking an option in the settings):
having wmcrtl installed, setting the notification engine to "Custom", and executing this custom command when new mails arrive:
wmctrl -r "Thunderbird" -b toggle,demands_attention

It's a great addon, but the new Firefox versions can't use it. Please update it!
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.11.0).I've decided to continue development only focusing on Thunderbird.
Unfortunately due to few constrains (see https://github.com/mkiol/GNotifier/issues/162) it is not possible to "fix" it to be compatible with the newest FF release.

With this addon I see my new mail notifications on the system notification area, that Linux Mint 18.2 shows for me.
Every notification has a "delete" button, which is something I never thought I'd miss. Whenever a spam gets through the filters, I just delete it via the notification "delete" button, without the need of opening up the otherwise minimized mail client window.
I'm using Fossamail 38.2.0, and the author was so kind to modify the addon for me so that it works with Fossamail too.
It definitely adds a lot of comfort to the mail client.
Big thanks again! :)

Excellent but why Firefox says the signature of this plugin cannot be checked? We have to settle it manually in
about:config
Type in :signature
xpinstall.signature.required >turn it to "false"

Since Thunderbird's notification popup feature is broken in Windows 10, this seemed like an ideal solution, and it works... sort of. Even though the configuration has an option for how many incoming emails to combine into a single notification, the extension spits out one notification for every single email received, no matter how high that number is set. So if in a single polling on an IMAP server, there are 4 new emails, it'll send 4 separate notifications and notification sounds in a row via Win10's notification service.
I love the idea, but until it works properly, I've got to disable it. Getting a whole bunch of notification chimes in rapid succession is too disruptive.

Works perfectly well with SeaMonkey 2.46 on Ubuntu. Now the system notification scheme is used instead of the default, ugly one. Thanks a lot!

I liked Thunderbird about everything, except for the non-notifications in Windows 10. This Addon made the difference, so from now on, Thunderbird is my preferred email app on Windows 10 machines. Way to go, guys! 8)

It would be perfect if you could make it work with the Lightning Calendar event reminders.
