The addon code is still compatible with thunderbird 140.x, but for some reason I needed to mark it as compatible in addons.thunderbird.net.
To be honest I don't quite understand the process that mozilla uses to determine how long an addon is marked as compatible and when the author needs to update the compatibility information.
Anyhow, I have now marked it as compatible, therefore it should work again.
