Works as described. It would be good if the color could be customized for each mail account.

Thanks. It works great (v1.3.1 on win7, thunderbird x64 v68.7.0).
I would have only one suggestion if it can be implemented. It would be good in the new version of the add-on if you can limit the characters for the subject line in the popup alert. Probably somewhere around 30 characters.
The popup alert in Thunderbird has been changed since version 68 by removing the limit from the subject line, which is a very bad decision because now you can get huge tray alerts if the email subject is too long (especially spam).

The addon is great but after a prolonged use, a few nasty issues are visible:
* when changing resolutions like switching to TV, or while using TeamViewer - the blinking alert near the clock disappears and doesn't reappear. when the resolution changes to a smaller one. Further, even in normal use, the bottom part of screen could get obstructed by various things like chairs or items on desk. If the blinking alert could be moved to the top left of screen, it would be more visible and the resolution change wouldn't influence!
* There should be a possibility to enlarge font in the alert.

Hello domel and wnoeker,
can you describe the steps in more detail? Or the contents of the file to post here?
regards

Elegant improvement of the new mail alert. The reason why it no longer works is that TB 24 has changed the way the alert is faded out.
For those who'd like to patch this for themselves (at the cost of making the add-on incompatible with earlier versions of TB), all you have to do is edit Blinking Alert's newmailalert.js: Near the top of the file, change both occurences of "fadeClose" into "fadeOutAlert", and near the end of the file, replace the computation of "gSlideTime / gFadeIncrement" by a constant value of 1000. HTH.

The plug-in works great except for one problem:
I am using an IMAP-mail account. In addition I have local folders. When applying filters to copy some mails into the local folders, the plug-in will not notice when mails arrive matching this filter. Thus there will be no blinking for those mails.

Awesome, I specially like the feature "Close on click" - it was not settable from Thunderbird itself, also blinking is good with two monitors when you are doing something on the second monitor.

GREAT extension. In particular the option to disable the auto-hide action of native Thunderbird when receiving mail. With the extension you can leave the computer for whatever reason and when returning the "received mail" alert is still visible.

great extension! Pity that it doesn't ignore junk messages - very annoying when you receive a lot spam.

This is great! Works perfectly in TB 3.0.1, very nice being able to change the color. To those saying it won't work in TB3, use Mr Tech Toolkit to override compatibility. Works just as described!

I'm really missing it in TB3 - could the developer please at least comment if it's going to make it in TB3 or not?
Thanks

Since the 'new-mail alert' addon no longer is maintained and doesn't work in TB3 this addon is useless now :(
