Hey to all moz community. Here is a new one :"Auto Compress File". Everything has been completely rewritten from scratch, but the main idea was to provide a "modern" alternative to this former useful but obsolete addon. Cheers! :)

I loathe updating only to find out some of my add-ons don't work. One of the more useful out there, someone with more skill than I needs to get this add-on to work with Thunderbird 5.0

The option "Automatically zip before sending" does not work if you set Thunderbird's pref "mailnews.sendInBackground" --> true

Review on the previous review! After installing the zorro3210 file again it suddenly worked! Great addon if it's working :)

As the original author is absent, Would someone be able to take over this addon? zorro3210, as you have created mods to get this to work with later versions would you be willing to release a new version of auto zip?

A MUST HAVE, and works perfectly with TB 3.1.1:
Either do manual mods as indicated in previous posts, either get zorro3210 mods (thanks zorro)
I checked zorro3210 file, and found it clean... Without, I wouldn't have upgraded.

Is the development on this extension dead? If so, can this be marked so? I'd be worried about downloading "unofficial" copies from external 3rd party sites :-(

+1 to get the officially supported version for TB3 of this absolutely needed add-on
In the meantime, I have - succesfully so far - implemented the Max Version and AddUrlAttachment changes described earlier in the comments.
It requires to understand how to manipuate .jar files, which can be opened via any zip tool.
