Issue: Connection Failed to SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected end of data at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data!

Solution:
Go to Edit > System > Privacy & Security. Scroll down to Security > Manage Certificates...

Under the Servers add the following exception:
https://api.mailhops.com/v2/map/

Quit/Close Thunderbird and re-open.
