quickFilters
Assegnate 5 su 5 stelle
Hello,
I have several email accounts but I don't need distinct message filters for them. This is how I did it:
When I need to add/change a rule, I edit "my own version" of msgFilterRules.dat by hand, which is symlinked by all email accounts, effectively making the configuration global to all accounts.
I'd like to ask you if quickFilters is able to make definitions "global" to all email accounts.
[ I rated 5 stars since apparently it does much, much more than what I need. I've never used it, actually. ]
Thanks a lot,
-- Richard

For those suffering to install Thunderbird 64bits running on Debian, plus a recent version of Lightning 64bits for it:
1. Add to /etc/apt/sources.list:
deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian experimental main
2. Refresh package information
apt-get update
3. Simulate installation of packages and see if it looks fine:
apt-get -t experimental install icedove iceowl-extension -V --simulate
4. Go for it :)
apt-get -t experimental install icedove iceowl-extension -V -y
My review: I've performed the steps described above, which means (at the current date) I've installed thunderbird 3.1.6 and Lightning 1.0b2.
In Debian they have weird names like icedove and iceowl due to licensing and copyright details, etc. Only names and logos are different, as far as I understand... all functionalities are exactly the same.
I'm using Thunderbird 3.1.6 and it works very well for me. No complaints at all. Performance is pretty good.
I have 5 accounts and about 10,000 messages disorganized in several folders. Searching stuff in this huge confusion runs very very well. Since Mozilla team implemented the message indexing thing, Thunderbird became possibly the best thing in town. I have Outlook at work and ... you should know!... it's another rubbish from Micro$oft.
Lightning 1.0b2 works pretty well. I had problems with previous versions of it but since I've tried 1.0b2 I started to believe that Thunderbird is finally ready to compete against Outlook. Thunderbird finally became mainstream, production quality, enterprise ready, IMHO.
Congratulations to Mozilla team for this great product.
It was a good strategic decision to revamp thunderbird focusing on usability, performance and stability.
Congratulations again for making Lightning better integrated, easier to use and finally free of really bad bugs.
Thanks
