For version 2+:
A preview of the message content is shown while the mouse hovers over the star icon in the message list.
Moving the mouse from one star to another will always show the corresponding message in a popup window.
This can help to find messages, e.g. if all have the same "RE: some subject", without need to click and open the message in a tab, which then needs to be closed if it was the wrong message opened.
It is also useful to quickly identify (Newsletter and other) messages that are due to be deleted.
A small delay is applied before opening the message window. This assures that the windows are not immediately, unwantedly, opened when the mouse moves over the message list to somewhere else on the screen.
