I am very satisfied with the empty folder option in the drop down menu of the folder. CRT+A does the same job but I am used to clicking through options.

Super useful! Would be nice if there was an option to directly delete the mails without moving them to the trash.
Also, I would suggest ignoring the "Trash" folder so that there isn't a redundant item: "Empty Trash" and "Empty folder".

Nice tool. Would be perfect if it would also move the sub-folders to Trash

Thank you for this great little utility!
For the next version may I suggest the ability to empty SEARCH folders?
Thanks again
Rick

Oh wow. I'm loving this. I get a lot of mail from various subscriptions and hated having to delete them manually. This is exactly what I was looking for. It just works.
Thanks a mil @freshlabs.

Updated review on 21Sep2021 using 1.3:
After noting the developers response, I re-enabled the extension and upgraded it to 1.3 and can confirm that when I tested with a folder containing 1477 emails, they were all correctly removed in batches of 100.
There is a minor issue where the count seems to reset to 100 when it reaches 1000 (so the status bar states that 577 items were removed after the operation is complete) but that is pretty minor.
My thanks to the author for bug fix. I often want to empty folders full of notification emails and a one-click empty functionality is something I have sorely missed from Outlook.
Original review from 20Sep2021 with 1.1:
Unfortunately this extension doesn't seem to work quite as advertised. I've tested it on several folders on POP3 accounts and each time it has only deleted a few emails and left the rest behind. After trying to empty one folder 3 times, I gave up and just used the keyboard hotkeys.
A shame as this extension should be very useful!
This is due to a performance base approach of the Thunderbird API with getting messages from folders. By default, a "chunk" of many messages consists of 100 messages. The plugin had a small bug in which only 100 mails plus a few were deleted per execution. I just fixed this bug with version 1.3.
Sorry this caused you inconvenience. Happy to help anytime!

Not working... Only moves a few emails occasionally, but does nothing most of the times...

It installed ok but doesn't do anything when selected
10/7/2020 No change. Still does nothing.
I'm not sure if I understand your usage scenario. A folder "10/7/20" would represent a hierarchy of folders. Do you wish to remove all messages recursively inside multiple folders? If so, this is currently not implemented as a feature.

Good idea!
I have been waiting for such an extension for a long time!
Beside, I would like to provide it with the translation into Italian.
As it is very simple (just a couple of strings) I put it below. Please note that I give 2 versions of the translation because I don't know if the apostrophe (') should be escaped or not.
Version *WITHOUT* "escape":
{
"extensionDescription": {
"message": "Aggiunge un'opzione al menu contestuale delle cartelle di posta per spostare nel cestino tutti i messaggi ivi contenuti"
},
"contextTitle": {
"message": "Svuota cartella"
}
}
Versione *WITH* "escape" (\)
{
"extensionDescription": {
"message": "Aggiunge un\'opzione al menu contestuale delle cartelle di posta per spostare nel cestino tutti i messaggi ivi contenuti"
},
"contextTitle": {
"message": "Svuota cartella"
}
}
Regards,
Topoldo
Thank you for your contribution. I suppose the version without escaped apostrophe works fine. It is now included in the new version.
