Google Search for Thunderbird
Rated 4 out of 5 stars
I didn't even know Thunderbird had a web search until today when I accidentally clicked on something and discovered it could search Bing. Since I hate Bing I decided on principle to find a way to get rid of it. I installed this, and now I can search with Google if I want to.
I don't know what that other reviewer is going on about. How can you give one star to something that does exactly what it says it does?
Purge Events Plus
Rated 1 out of 5 stars
This didn't delete a single event. I tried it several times.

I'm so happy to find this. I'm always accidentally moving folders without realizing it (I need a better mouse) and then my filters stop working properly. No more of that!

For a while now I've seen Thunderbird working at the pace of molasses. So recently I turned off a bunch of add-ons to see if that helped. It did, so I began to turn them on one by one. TB worked fine until I turned on this extension, at which point the program started moving like mud. I don't know why.

Rated 5 out of 5 stars
This was great while it worked, but there's no version for 3. :-( Unfortunately, Thunderbird will let you add addresses to the address book but won't let you specify which address book to use if, like me, you have multiples, so it's fairly useless. Please update this.
Lightning
Rated 2 out of 5 stars
I really don't understand why Lightning has no way to automatically add an event from an email. ReminderFox does it. It seems like an obvious thing to have - Outlook has great integration in which you can both add with a right click or drag and drop an email into the calendar - but Lightning has never seemed to make any effort to really integrate itself into TB. Which is why while I've installed it and looked at it a few times, I always uninstall it again because what it offers that ReminderFox doesn't can't compensate for the things ReminderFox has that Lightning doesn't. I wish the two add-ons could be melded into one, but until Lightning improves its integration, it's simply not useful to me.

I'm not going to install an add-on without having any idea what it actually does. Why don't you put it a real description?
Quicktext
Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I've been using the signature extension for years, even though it hasn't been updated since TB 1.5. I've used MR Tech to keep it running, but since upgrading to TB 3, having MR Tech disable version checking causes TB to lose its scrollbars. So, as I have done many times before, I searched the extensions for a replacement, and for the first time I found something, QuickText. This is much nicer Signature, with a slicker interface and the ability to categorize text. You can also insert certain variables, which I haven't had use of yet but which is a very clever feature. I'm thrilled to finally be able to let go of Signature.
