This search add-on works fine, but could be even better if it was offered with a few different zoom levels.

Here is the URL to get the map suggestion

http://maps.google.com/maps?mrt=loc&q={your search query}&output=kml

For example

http://maps.google.com/maps?mrt=loc&q=Ha+noi+Viet+Nam&output=kml

You will need to parse the page for the suggestions. See this page for more options for the "output" parameter rather than just KML

http://mapki.com/wiki/Google_Map_Parameters#Output_Control

BTW please change the icon to distinguish it with other Google searches.

Works well however the icon confusion with google search is infuriating. I hate putting in a general search term only to find that I am searching google maps rather than google.com

I agree with Jake1776. The google maps add on below has a more intuitive icon

Try this. He finds location on the map and displays the route from your place of residence.

Along with the 2 other reviewers of this add-on, the major drawback to this plugin is that in the small icon or favicon in thesearch bar is indistinguishable from a standard google search.

This really limits it's usefulness because it often takes more time than typing the URL in manually do to the confusion.

Other than that, it does its job well.

Please change the icon! It is too easy to mix this up with plain Google.

excellent add-on...it does its job fast and well...just one minor complaint..maybe change how the favicon looks? i mean Google Web search has the same icon and i get confused sometimes..other than that its perfect...now if only someone made a Google Shopping search bar.....
