As of 25 August 2012, this extension does not work. Also, after the required reboot of Firefox, a new page opened and automatically downloaded 2 .exe files to my computer without notification or permission. Watch out for 'mp3gain.exe' (the mp3 volume normalizer) and 'ffmpeg.exe', which has no description.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.6.2.1-signed).

ffmpeg.exe is the software used to convert the youtube video to an MP3. You can read more about it here: http://ffmpeg.org/. mp3gain.exe comes from a well respected sourceforge project. It is used to fix the volume (aka 'Normalize') the mp3. You can view the project page here: http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/. My ffmpeg.exe is slightly different than what you'd get if you built it from their project. I turn off the console output so you don't see an ugly black console window everytime you convert an mp3 :P.

My apologies for the confusion and the troubles your having with the plugin. I am working on enhancing the download feature. Right now google is rapidly changing their web site, and it's difficult for me to keep up around my job right now. I'm working on some enhancements that should fix it for years to come though.

Thanks again for trying youtubeMP3Podcaster. Please stay tuned for the 2.8.0 release!
