Waytag Privacy

Last modified: 18 October 2010 (view archived versions)

At Waytag we have created and developed a universal addressing system represented by a unique location tag called a Waytag. Our solution is designed in line with our mission to organise the world’s location information and make it universally accessible and useful. To protect your privacy we have designed the Waytag solution to give users control over the publicly available content associated with each of their waytags. At waytag you create it, you name it, you update it, you can delete it and you choose who to share your waytag with. You are always in complete control of the information associated with your waytag.

The manner in which we handle your information applies to all of the products, services and websites offered by Waytag (Pty) Ltd and our subsidiaries or affiliated companies.

If you have any questions about Waytag Privacy contact us through our website or email us at: security@waytag.com.

What is Content?

Content is the information that you choose to capture as part of your waytag information. Our focus is on user generated and controlled location content and we provide the tools to help you manage your personal information in a simple manner. We at Waytag will only display the content that you have added to your waytag. To make it easier we have developed different types of waytags. Business waytags, for example, cater for more content to be added, including contact details and general information whereas personal waytags do not cater for additional contact information. The minimum content needed to create a waytag is a set of co-ordinates. As the owner of a waytag you can elect to add more content by completing the available fields if you choose.

What is Personal information?

When you sign up for a Waytag account we will ask you for personal information (Name and email address). This information will be used to create an account for you where you can add, update and delete your waytags. Your account will be accessible via a username and password. Please ensure that you keep your password in a safe place to prevent any unauthorised access to your waytags. We at Waytag cannot and will not be held liable for any loss or damage resulting from a user’s failure to comply with this security obligation.

Information used to create a Waytag account will not form part of the content associated with your waytag and will be treated as personal information. If we decide to use personal information in a manner different than the purpose for which it was collected, then we will ask for your consent prior to such use.

User communication

When you send an email or other communications to Waytag, we may retain those communications in order to process your inquiries, respond to your requests and improve our services.

Information sharing

Waytag will only share personal information with employees, contractors and agents who need to know that information in order to operate, develop or improve our services subject to those companies or individuals being bound by confidentiality obligations or to satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or enforceable governmental request, to enforce applicable Terms of Use, including investigation of potential violations thereof, to detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues, or to protect against harm to the rights, property or safety of Waytag, its users or the public.

We may share with third parties certain pieces of aggregated, non-personal information, such as the number of users who looked up a particular Waytag, for example, or how many users updated their location or shared their location. Such information does not identify you individually.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

Please note that Waytag Privacy may change from time to time.

If you have any additional questions or concerns about Waytag Privacy, please feel free to contact us any time through this web site or at security@waytag.com.
