Great idea and was implemented in firefox 4.

This was a great extension. (I'm on 3.6 now, so I no longer need it.)

sort of works for me
Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala)
Firefox 3.5.7 (Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.7) Gecko/20100106 Ubuntu/9.10 (karmic) Firefox/3.5.7)
works fine except when I'm running unclutter (a background program that hides the mouse pointer when it's stationary). Tooltips seem to work in every other program with unclutter, although in those programs it looks like they get redrawn after the pointer disappears.

tooltip on xkcd still disappears after ~1 sec. :-(

Just what I was looking for.

It does exactly what the title says. The way it should be in the first place.

Another subtle improvement that makes a world of difference. Thank you for bringing this to everyone's attention.

Works ok on web pages but does not work on toolbar buttons, tab bar, or other add-ons that add tabs
I'm using FF 3.5 on Mac OS X 10.4.11 with TMT and TabMixPlus & Mr Tech Toolkit

Works well in Firefox 3.5 and latest nightly build (forced install). Tooltip says up as long as I want it to.
P.S. Please change the default preview image for this addon. It was very confusing the first time I tried to install it -- especially since my nightly build wasn't officially compatible.
You're right. I've replaced it by a customized tooltip.

I got this solely because of the XKCD reference. Touche!

Sir: Thank you very much for your work scripting this. Certain to become a classic add-on as word gets around. Sincerely 1NR1

SPLENDID!! I wish I had found this sooner. I've wasted time every few weeks or so looking around in discussion boards for news of this being fixed in the browser itself and didn't think to look for an addon until someone mentioned it in one of the threads. Works PERFECTLY, exactly as the browser should work by default. Thank you very much!

I have been waiting forever for this. This is a bug if you ask me and should be fixed in Firefox itself, but hey if an add-on fixes it then it's the next best thing. It works perfectly. I moused over an image, saw the alt-text and it was still there when I came back several hours later!
Furthermore, there so far appear to be no unwanted side-effects.

Thank you! I have spent hours looking for the about:config option that disables tooltip timeout, and never found it. I finally gave up and installed No Tooltip Timeout, and am happy with the results.

Holy mother of all things holy, I love you! I spent hours looking for a way to do this, through about:config, or otherwise. Now I can read title text on xkcd.com without rushing and freaking out when it disappears and I didn't finish, then rereading to figure out where I left off, only to waste precious time in finishing what I didn't have time to read before. (Can you say viscous circle?) So, thank you!
