Very sad this smiles Thunderbird plugin no longer functions with newer versions of Thunderbird.

I keep on my add-ons list in case the author ever decides to rewrite Smilie Inserter. One can only hope.

Smilie always added a bit of joy to emails and would get frequent positive comments from those who received emails with smiles inserted.

I use this and enjoy adding some of my own icons to emails. I hope that whatever reason TBird has blocked it can be repaired so I can restore.

Although stated to to compatible with Tb 0.7-31* I got message "This add-on is not compatible with your version of Thunderbird" (60.0.3) . Clicked "Install Anyway", got message "This add-on could not be installed because it appears to be corrupt". Code apparently needs updating for 60*.

Loved this and used for a long time. Now yet another update to Thunderbird has broken this and many other add-ons. Sure hope the developer of this can change his code to work with the new TB. Please let us know when a working update is available. I know coding is a lot of work and I thank you. Would donate to get this working again. Thanks

This is a great little addon. I found a bunch of emoticons I wanted to use, and saved them to a folder. Now I have them whenever I want to add them to emails (like Happy Birthday emoticons). Unfortunately, I have encountered the same problem as another user. Recently got a new laptop with Windows ten, and loaded Thunderbird 5.2.1. Formerly using Windows 7 with an older version of Thunderbird. Now, every time I want to add one, I get a message "blocked loading file into the message" warning, and I need to manually unblock each smiley each time. A little annoying. I'd love to know if there is a fix.

Seems like SI+ v1.11 worked in Linux Tbird 45 & worked well in Vista;
starting in Linux Tb 52, when try to add a SI Plus image using its drop menu, Tb pops a blocked image message at the bottom of composer window.

That message has a preferences button, that would allow unblocking (apparently) only the *specific* smilie file selected. Guessing a new Tb security feature?

But, Tb 52 allows me to drag / drop an SI Plus file directly from its folder (Linux) to the compose window. That doesn't make a lot of sense, since by either method, the location of the file being added is the same.

This is my main add-on ! I coudl not express myself without :)
And it works well

But a few days ago each smiley insertion raises a "blocked loading file into the message" warning and i need to manually unblock each smiley each time.
This might be a thunderbird version change or an unvolontary mistake on my side.
How can we avoid this, please ?

Regards

I can not follow the download instructions for SmilieInserter Plus....I can not get it to install????
what's up with this??? diana

Hi diana,
You need to supply your own smilies as I said in the About for the add-on.
If you'd like a "starter folder" just send me an email at the support address on the right side of the Add-on page.

This is an invaluable addon for those of us who like to add smilies/small images/tags to some of our emails. I wouldn't mind seeing some form of subfolder/navigation improvements, but all in all its fairly quick and easy to swap folders. But yeah, after getting used to Incredimail, then having to switch when it stopped working, this little addon made it a LOT nicer to deal with Thunderbird. Even now I'm used to Thunderbird, this addon saves me some headaches when it comes to finding and adding a little colour to my email. :)

Very handy. Nice way to map your work environment to a local folder. Wish it had more options!

My review is a bit late but they are working. The developer sent an initial group of them and I went and found some more. Good!

Great app. Very easy to use and does exactly what it advertises. My one suggestion is to add an option where images are (automatically) resized to a smaller size if they are larger than usual (I mean re-sized in the smilie preview window, not once they are pasted). I use this program to paste not just smilies but all sorts of gifs and pngs to add flavor and snark to messages. Unfortunately, some of these take up a large number of pixels, and the smilie selection window goes a little awry in response since the smilie columns widen to the size of the single offending gif. Anyway, not a big deal, but just a thought!

A way to deal with large images is to put them in their own Directory. I recommend creating a Smilie folder with subfolders of images sorted by size and frequency of use.
The "Change Directory" button will automatically open with the "parent" smilie directory expanded to show the subfolders for quick selection.

If you have excessive side to side scrolling due to large images, E-mail me and I'll send you a copy that has a Directory dialogue option limited to 4 columns wide, in addition to the normal 8 columns, that you can dedicate to the folder of large images.

Makes my emails FUN! My writing style can be candid and fastidious, and this way I can really express what I'm trying to say. And the author of this enjoyable little ditty is incredibly responsive to comments and suggestions, and is more than happy to help. Great, fun add-on, and I hope this author continues to develop others. He's done a mighty fine job on this one!

Great add-on. Works perfectly. Thunderbird's default smilies are limited so it is nice to have the option of adding my own.

Thanks for this great addon. I have two requests:

- Favorite folders drop down arrow for different image collections.

- Wrapping lines. I have 800*600 res so I have to scroll right for every rows which is tiring.

Best Regards
