this iditotic jumping from 4->5->6 even for security updates of firefox is unacceptable as long you have no access to your stored passwords for days after that :-(

Short answer: I agree. Long answer: Mozilla analyzes each plugin to see if it can be automatically upgraded, but it does not work for binary components. As you may imagine, this plugin is binary, so I have to recompile it to comply with the new version of Firefoxx. With that, generate a new version of the plugin, even if I don't change anything on it. After that the Mozilla team has to analyze the plugin for security threats (it takes some time). I make the new compilation ready before Mozilla's analysis at my web site. (It's available a day or two after Firefox's upgrade).
I think the solution would be to be more permissive with the versioning system, but there's nothing I can do about it. I think that releasing a major version of any software every 2 months is not a good policy.
