Very handy !

4-stars, because the Option "Allow the folder movement if drag starts with shift key pressed" does not work !

Tried both shift-keys. After disabling the add-on, the drag can be done

TB 128.4.0esr + v5.5.0

UPDATE:

Thank you for the reply !
That was exactly what I was doing but didn't work.
Just tried the same again, and now it works. No idea why, maybe TB was restarted it meanwhile. I'm sure I'm doing exactly the same as before. But ok, it's solved :-)

Thank you for feedback.

You need to hold down the shift key before clicking; pressing shift after starting the drag won't work.

Plain and simple. Well done !

Life saver for all those technical supporters of parents and other non-technical people that sometimes click without watching where and then wonder, that something is missing (e.g. in this case a folder, because it has been moved to another folder), but say "I haven't done anything" ;)

Without this addon (and thank you so much for quickly updating it to work on Thunderbird 128), our organisation would be forever having to move employees' IMAP folders back to their correct locations.

This is one of the most essential addons every user of Thunderbird should install - you won't know how much time it saves and perfectly it works until someone says "Where have all my emails gone?" and you realise they've dragged and dropped a folder on top of another one by accident (usually when working from home using a laptop touchpad!).

I've been looking for this option including asking chat GPT that was making up some settings that do not exist. Not sure how I finally stumbled upon this addon but FINALLY!

Not 5 stars due an then quite annoying issue.

If you need tot reorganize folder, and I can tell this an experience to so many other cases, you will no be satisfied after first trial.
So you turn Add-On off, entirely, do reorganisation, and scroll round to find it for reactivation. Not funny due auto resort of Add-Ons.
Then, another trial. Turning off an on again turns annoying. Next trial again.

Keeping tab of Add-On open, turn only it’s function off, do trials and turn it on just picking tab shall be a welcome improvement.

After , YET AGAIN, accidentally moving a folder (barely) in TB Folder Tree and going through the pain & fear (all those emails disappeared!!! I found this perfect solution. Thank You! (PS TB developers, really this should be a built in behavior)

Great plugin! Many times I've accidentally move a folder and the best is that I had to figure out which one (and undo doesn't work). Glad that this plugin exists, but I think this should be a default behavior in TB, or at least there should be a confirmation dialog box before moving.

I see that in Version 5.0 the prompt to allow a move had to be removed. That was what really made the extension great. Would it be possible to update the extension so that you could hold down a key (Ctrl or Alt for example) and drag to allow the move so that we don't have to disable the extension in order to move a folder? That would make it much more convenient to use.

Mr. Takayama, thank you, thank you, thank you. It is a really good add-on. I don't understand why this characteristic is not included by default in Thunderbird. It is something so necessary, so basic, so useful, that it is a mystery to me why this solution needs of an external tool. Congratulations. Please, keep on working on tools like this. People like you make a better place of this world.

I was just wondering if you are going to update the extension to work on 78.x. Love the extension. Would hate to lose it.

Edit: I downloaded v4.4.0 and it works great on TB 78. Thanks!

Thanks, works with 68.5.
Don't know how many times I had to search for items moved by accident before!

Future feature suggestion: Could you add a selectable keypress (Shift or Ctrl+Shift) to enable Drag&Drop on purpose?
