After deleting an email, the next email is not selected, but if I delete an email and then read another email, the message pane goes black in about 5 to 10 seconds.
This didn't happen in previous versions of ThunderBird...
Is this just me? (current 115.10.1)

Sadly, the extension doesn't disable the selection of the next message, but rather un-selects it quickly after it is selected. Important distinction as that still marks the message as read and probably lets those nasty Spam trackers get activated...

This is really helpful. Would be great if this could be extended to Archiving messages, too.

It is such a necessary add-ons but does not work with current version: 115.4.1 (64-bit).

Thank you for the v3.7 update for SuperNova. It does just what I was looking for by blanking out the deleted item, but not opening any other mail in the folder. I prefer to chose which incoming mail to open, not have it done for me.

In the latest upgrade, you have responded splendidly. I commend you for your outstanding achievement.

5 stars for working before the new interface, in supernova it is not working anymore

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.6).

5-star rating because it has always worked. However, going to Supernova, it's not working anymore. Using 3.6 version of the add-on. Hopefully y'all are working on a compatible version.

Since update from version 3.4 to v. 3.5 the core function is dead.
TB 102.10.0 on Linux (Debian based).
Switched back to V 3.4 and worked.

The core function is there, but it somehow breaks feature of opening a newly arrived mail from the pop-up notification.
When the currently active folder is NOT the folder the new message arrives in, and you click on the notification to open the new message, TB won't jump to the correct folder and open it - instead it will open some random older mail in the currently active folder. However, there is no issue when the currently active folder is the same as the newly arrived message.
When the addon is deactivated, the issue does not persist.

Doesn't work with TB 115 Supernova.
Please update.

This was once an essential addon for me! There is a TB setting if you don't want the addon to do it:

TB menu > General > Reading & Display > Close message window/tab on move or delete

Works as advertised. Too bad there is no setting for this natively in Thunderbird.

I reviewed version 3.2 from Okt. 8, 2021 and did not find any malicious code. This is no guarantee for later versions!

Excellent. Works as advertised, exactly what was needed.

Looked over the code, all looks good to me. The requested permissions appear to be because the new API doesn't yet support what this addon requires, so it requests the access of the old API - not anything to worry about in this case.

My damned mouse loves unwanted double clicks so i'll give the plugin a try. Seems to work. Thanks for that plugin.

It works as well as the old version of "Deselect on Delete". Wonderful! BIG THANKS to the author(s)!

Concerning permissions you should not be too much worried. I can confirm that during installation of add-on version 3.1 (from 2020-12-09) it asks for "full permissions". However, after installation the Thunderbird add-on manager tells that it "does not need any permissions".
Every other add-on which I installed also asked for "full permissions" during installation. It may indeed be a bug in TB 78.5.1.
Also please keep in mind that the permission request pop-up is something new in TB78. The old TB68 did not have it. Do not be scared by this new feature.

DO NOT INSTALL! Previous "Deselect on Delete" did not require any permissions. This version wants "full, unrestricted access to Thunderbird and your computer."

There is no reason for this add-on to require such broad permissions. Seems like a backdoor.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.1).

It's not a backdoor. You can unzip the extension and look at the code, it's small and clear. Requiring this permission is needed to use "experiments" API. Previous addon required same permission. Btw when installed, both will show "This extension doesn’t require any permissions", it's mozilla bug.

Unfortunately no longer usable in the current version.
