I used Tor Birdy until it was no longer available. it was very good. Could not someone in your add-on section bring up to date and reinstate this Birdy.

I can just agree with the people before me.
It is an amazing Add-On but needs an upgrade or some information if we can expect and update for Thunderbird 68+

When will there be a compatible version to Thunderbird 68 and higher?

This add-on is a disaster. It completely prevented my Thunderbird from connecting to my provider's server, or getting or sending email. Even upon uninstalling it, it left settings behind which I had to manually change to get and send email again. Avoid this add-on at all costs!

just do not understand why the developers of torbirdy have disabled the ability to format the body text of the email, it is NOT possible to enlarge the text that is too small, to change the color and type of fonts, to color the body. ... this is really bad and boring .... I ask the developers to modify the operation so that at least the possibility of formatting the text is rehabilitated, which I do not think that changing only the type of fonts and the size can affect the non-traceability of the email....do just that ...size, font type, color.....and we will happy that's all!

Have you re-checked the settings in Thunderbird to provide the auto-login service? I actually prefer not to have this enabled, but the same thing happened to me with some of my accounts I have linked to Thunderbird, However, NOT related to TorBirdy. But since TorBirdy resets alot of settings to either default or such I just wanted to check if you had made sure that this was in fact not the issue.

Sorry if I was of no help since this might be kind of self-explanatory regarding the reply you got already from a dev regarding the same thing about TorBirdy resetting stuff.

Anyhow, best of luck!

Anyhow, regarding TorBirdy, works great for me. No bugs or issues to report to this date. Although only used it for a couple of days of which I have been able to access my computer only one of those said days.
Thumbs up!

EDIT: I have 3 GMAIL accounts linked to my Thunderbird and none of these have had any issues either.

Unfortunately, after installing I found some issues and removed the add-on. After removal, if left many settings unrestored in TB. Many things were as simple to fix as a setting, but there are still many items in the preferences and some items that reverting back does not work as the specific settings is just changed back. Support is unable to reproduce the problem, but other user has confirmed the same problem as I experience. Using the latest beta as of today, 51.0b1. Something somewhere in the mix is a problem causing it to fail to restore Thunderbird to its previous state and leave no trace as the description says it will. Proceed with caution.

Because of the issues with the install and uninstall, I cannot give it any more than 1 star, as for me, it failed on many levels. Happy to revise after it may work, but I believe this info valuable to others considering an install.

Gmail started blocking my Thunderbird app from accessing my account at my very first attempt at installing and testing TorBirdy. The only way to get it working was to go into my gmail account and "allow access to less secure apps". This leaves my account more vulnerable to attempts to break into my account. However, I can now access my account but I have to sign in every time, which I did not have to do previously. I am not happy with this situation. There seems to be no way to undo it. Removing TorBirdy did not help. Google continues to block automatic sign-in attempts from the my Thunderbird app because it is now deemed to have "known security problems or is out of date." I can live with signing in every time, but I don't like having my account less secured. I was better off just using Thunderbird on a computer with a VPN service activated.

Removing TorBirdy restores all settings (especially the proxy settings prior to install). While the Gmail problem you have described is common (we describe it on the wiki as well), I am surprised why removing TorBirdy didn't alleviate it. Did you revert the "allow access to less secure apps"?

Really excellent not just for "torifying" Thunderbird, but also adding some extra e-mail security and anonymity features built in. Can't wait to see the known leaks fixed.

Nice add-on! I'd like to request the feature: Enable only for the following email accounts: Account 1, Account 2, etc. For some accounts, privacy might not be an issue, eg corporate/business email addresses.

See ticket [https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/ticket/8487] for information on how you can use TorBirdy for specific accounts.
