Finally we can have the delete button!
The only downside is we cannot do CTRL+Z to get the deleted email back. Have to go into the Trash, which is fine really.

Which version do you have installed? In V2.7.3, the bug should actually be fixed. If not, please open a new issue on GitHub.

Thanks for coming up with this solution, it works great and I'm glad for your contribution.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.7.2).

Thanks for the review. I have now also added a fix to address the Ctrl+Z issue, so if you have the affected version installed, it might be a good idea to update.

Works great. One thing I noticed is there is no Delete button on the top email of a threaded conversation, but I can still right click on those (without your delete button) and delete.

EDIT: Thanks for the quick reply. There's another person who made a similar addon and his delete button is on every email including the top email of the threaded conversations. But I prefer your design much better. His name is Ales1515 (on reddit) and his latest is cards-delete-btn-v25.xpi. He just posted it yesterday on the Thunderbird forum on reddit. Maybe you can get the answer in his xpi.

EDIT 2: I downloaded the .xpi from the "Download Now" button here. Also downloaded the one from Github (Download Zip) which was the same thing. I can't find a place to write a review on Github. that is one confusing website to my untrained eyes! lol

One more thing I'm noticing, is when I use this button, the next email down is automatically highlighted and immediately displays it's email body. Whereas when I right click and click on the trash icon, the next email is not selected/highlighted and does not show it's email body. Ales1515's acts the same way in this regard.

FINAL UPDATE: All of the above have now been fixed. Nice work!

Thank you for the review. I’m aware of the issue, but unfortunately I don’t know how to change it yet. I’m not really a programmer and basically just vibe-coded the whole thing, so the code is unfortunately a bit sloppy as well. That’s also why publishing it in the store isn’t possible at the moment (I assume you got the add-on from my GitHub?).

If all goes well, a reviewer will soon add an API that makes implementing the add-on much easier. If that happens, I’ll also add the button to the top cards.

Edit:

Feel free to write a new review or reply on my GitHub (sim32101). I don’t get notified about edits.

I took a look at his implementation. The way he did it is actually how I originally had it as well. However, I wasn’t able to move the trash can icon on the top cards independently from the other icons. For the top cards ("Today", "Last 7 Days", …), the icon would need to be placed in a different position than on the other cards. Since I couldn’t get that working, I decided to hide the button on the top cards completely. The “clean look” was more important to me.

Maybe I’ll adjust it in the future. For now, I’ll wait and see what the reviewer says.

Edit: should all be fixed now.

It's a very nice tool! But with 2 lines visualization the icon is not visible! I think a simple update would solve it!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.4).

Since I don’t know how to display the buttons depending on the visualization, it will remain limited to the 3-line view for now. If you know how such a "simple update" could be implemented — or want to take a shot at it yourself with the help of AI (that's how I work) — feel free to contribute to the add-on on my GitHub.

Edit: Should be fixed.

This 'delete' button is one of those tiny things which makes MS Outlook feel much better.
If you're used to deal with 100+ Emails a day as a project manager for large projects, those tiny things are life saving.
@sim32101 Thank's a lot for your not so 'tiny' tool.
