Quite useful extension as a fast way to check for updates, for those users who
want to control things.
However, it needs a small fix because in recent versions of Firefox, the menu
item "Check for updates" is not translated any more..

OK, does what says, but it should also add an icon to FF "Open menu" button which is available when Menu bar is not used.

This is a review for both the browser(I run Palemoon- not Failfox) and Thunderbird versions because it works in both and perhaps it should be amended to add that it is restartless.
Dagger should be complimented because he makes a number of add-ons that at first glance make what appear to be minor changes. However, they tend to correct a whole host of downgrades that Mozilla keeps cranking out with the whole rabid-release fiasco.
Dagger rocks!

Simple add-on which functions exactly as described.

since I just asked firefox to 'check for updates' and instead of checking, it instead decided to download and apply an update, I was very pissed off. I had to hunt through windows for the update files to delete them to prevent it from doing what I had most certainly not asked it to do.
so this add-on is very welcome. now we just need to tell the developers to fix their software so that it actually does what people ask it to do.

great addon - thank you :-)please provide full German translation (in addon description)
EDIT / 26th - sent an mail to you
Give me a full German translation, and I'll put it up. You can use the "Support E-mail" link on the extension page to send it to me.
I'd be happy to localize any of my extensions, if anybody would volunteer translations for them.

This is a nice little add on. Was wondering where it went to. Glad it is back! :)

Excellent little Add-on. Restores the original Firefox Update UI to the Help menu. This means updates will not automatically be downloaded upon checking. Asks for user confirmation, thereby giving you the choice to download or not. Extremely useful if you want to back up your Profile first, copy the current application, or wait a bit to see if any problems develop with a new version BEFORE installing. Mozilla should never have removed this.

To copy and paste from another reviewer, "Some of the best ideas are the simple ones."
And I seem to remember that this is where it used to be many moons ago. Another dumb change for the sake of change by Firefox International?

Some of the best ideas are the simple ones. Makes it much easier to check for updates. Works great in both FF and TB. Very nicely done!

Doesn´t work.
Windows XP, TB 7.0.1
Not in 7.0.1, no, which is why it's marked as "Works with Thunderbird 8.0 - 10.0a1". It'll work in 8.0.
