My Reviews

Work Offline

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Tried hard. Managed to get icon onto menu bar [that was fun!] but thereafter just couldn't get it to load/display html's from my hard drive, with or without active internet connection.

Mouse Gestures Suite

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I realize i must be doing something wrong, but that only begs the question of why isn't the documentation so clear that my confusion isn't impossible?
Installed it fine, went into its settings, found mouse gestures page [tho it forces you to stumble about to find that right clicking on a given command triggers its popup field], and tried a few gestures.
Nada. Trails didn't appear, much less promised actions happening.
I have a golden rule that has saved me many hours with craputers [er, computers]: if it doesn't work instantly, forgetaboutit.

Windows 7, Firefox 39 user.

FoxTab

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

This is a dead parrot! First time i installed it icon didn't appear, and hotkey [ctrl + tab] didn't work. Next time i retried installing it, i got icon but hotkey still didn't work.
[I have Firefox 39 and run Windows 7]

Google Docs Viewer (PDF, DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, etc...)

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Works ok- i just can't see the point. Foxit [older versions only!] works just as well, as has far more manipulation tools.

FoxTab

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Installed it fine, figured how to operate [easy enough: ctrl + tab].
But when i tried it, nada. Does absolutely nothing. I have Firefox 30 and run 32bit Windows 7. Not having any other problems with FF.

Speed Dial

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Nice to have an improved speed dial, especially the make-home-page option!
There's room for improvement tho, like thumbnail of last page visited in any particular site, and here's my Big Idea:
fill all unused panes with most recently visited sites.
Presently, FF makes one choose between speed dial [even your improved version] and start with-last-page option.
Be sweet if you made *both* possible!
Another problem- your change # of panes [from default 3 x 3 to, say, 4 x 4] either doesn't work or needs *some* explanation.

L: I'm having tech problems with this review [submitting it]. 4, not 1, stars should appear. And i wanted to add that while you can change sites, the images of old sites persist [so i have a pane with the image of one site that connects to another!]. Probably just [another] conflict with another extension.

PDF Viewer(discontinued)

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Just doesn't work. Or, to be more precise: text appears in illegible outline form. The pdf menu bar display "This page may not display properly". May? In my experience, *always*.

PDF Viewer(discontinued)

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Fitting i guess: even Mozilla indirectly admits their pdf display is garbage ["This may not display properly..." You got that right!], so their extension inherits Firefox's apparent inability to display pdf text without mangling.
At any rate, like the .epub extensions, it's junk.

Lucifox

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

#1 thumb: cryptic interface [badly needs a simple "load epub" button]. Clicking on it merely brings up a page of options [ "catalog" etc]. None helpful.

#2 thumb: lousy unsearchable help.
I didn't even get close to finding how to make it open an epub. In this it's like its competition, the other firefox extension.

August 4, 2014 UPDATE. This time it worked a lot better [due to newer version of firefox?]. But it's still frustrating. After much struggle i managed to tweak the color prefs to my taste but never managed to either change the font, or, even worse, the fonts size.

So from 1 star to 3 stars.

Hide Menubar

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I tried it strictly to recover my menu bar in full-screen mode, but it doesn't work in full-screen mode.
Make a good addition, don't you think, yuoo2k

Keyword Search

An extension that simply does what it claims. Hope this is a trend!
My apologies to developer but i find internet far too dangerous to send money over it.

ToggleDocumentColors_

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

That may sound like faint praise, but if you check my dozen odd reviews, non-functioning extensions aren't as rare as you think.
Problem with, to name names, Color Toggle for one, is that the alternate color profile can easily hide GUI links, and actually render them inert [so even if you know where a button is, you're still screwed].
TDC does one narrow job, but does it effectively. Kudos!

AutoPager

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

It's nice when it works, but UNLIKE OPERA, it rarely works [only on a few big sites, like search engines]. That makes it fairly useless.
