Complete YouTube Saver
Rated 5 out of 5 stars
The advantage to Complete YouTube Saber (CYS) over other YouTube video downloaders is that it allows you to download a video in the highest resolution possible for that video. It also provides a host of additional download options. In order to accomplish all this, CYS relies on an external program called "FFmpeg."
CYS achieves full functionality only after you download and save the FFmpeg program to your computer. The program doesn't actually install; it just sits in the folder where you've saved it.
To his credit, the developer provides an interface within the add-on to facilitate the download. Unfortunately, the interface is somewhat confusing and defaults to an option to download FFmpeg in a format that requires you to install another program just to decompress the download. Who needs that?
It's best to avoid the built-in interface and download the latest version of FFmpeg manually. Go to the FFmpeg download site at
https://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/
Select the appropriate options and click on the "Download FFmpeg" button. You'll get a zipped folder which can be decompressed in the usual way.
After you've saved the unzipped FFmpeg folder to the location of your choice, select the "FFmpeg" tab in CYS, select the option "I have already downloaded FFmpeg," and enter the location where you've saved it. Your file path will conclude with the "bin" folder of your unzipped download, within which the file "ffmpeg" resides.
Contact Photos

Does exactly what it's designed to do. Replaces Display Contact Photo.

Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Perfect! This add-on provides a toolbar button which lets you toggle between classic, wide, and vertical views. Normally I use vertical view, but when using ThunderBrowse classic view works better. I needed a way to switch from one view to the other without resorting to View menu > Layout. Maximize Message Pane cannot restore the vertical view. Layout Button works perfectly.

Display Contact Photo was one of TB's most attractive GUI improvements. Sadly, the developer has failed to keep pace with changes to TB, so the add-on doesn't work anymore. A shame.

Rated 4 out of 5 stars
ThunderBrowse continues to work just fine in TB 45. However, not all of the options work, and changes to those that do work are not reflected in the options window. The options selected in the options window remain unchanged even after you have selected different options and ThunderBrowse's behavior has changed. Weird!

The "Notes" menu item is stuck at the bottom of the context menu and can't be moved by Menu Wizard.

Needs to be updated to work with New Add-on Bar. Currently it works only with The Addon Bar (restored), but The Addon Bar (restored) won't work in FF44. New Add-on Bar does work with FF44.

Rated 3 out of 5 stars
It does remove an extension's preferences when the extension is removed, if you select that option. Unfortunately, the export preferences function does not work. You have to use OPIE for that. Also, no toolbar button is provided. Access is through the Tools menu or through Add-ons Manager.

It DOES work perfectly in Thunderbird 12.0.1. You have to uninstall any existing version first, then install version 2.0.5.
