My Reviews

Restart

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I used Restartless Restart for years, but today it quit working after I upgraded to FF44. I tried this add-on as a replacement and it seems to work just fine. The only difference I can find is that Restart requires a restart (no pun intended).

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.2.8).

Restartless Restart

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I've been using this excellent add-on for years, but after upgrading to FF44 it no longer works.

I looked for a replacement and decided to use Restart 1.2.8 because it was updated about a month ago. (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/re-start/?src=search)

Installed and working perfectly with FF44.

Compose for Thunderbird

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I've been using Thunderbird since 2005 and have always wondered why the composing options were so limited. Oftentimes I write my emails in OpenOffice, LibreOffice, or even MS Word before pasting them in Thunderbird. Compose for Thunderbird goes a long way towards bringing Thunderbird on par with those writing applications. This add-on still needs work, more features, and the ability to modify it; but overall it is a very awesome add-on -- especially for only being version 0.2. Thank you mozjonathan!

ImportExportTools

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I stumbled upon ImportExport Tools sometime last year (2010) and have found it to be very useful. I especially like the ability to save email messages in different formats. The add-on has many other useful features as well.

Highlighter

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

...for someone to develop an extension like this; thank you André Rodier! On a planet far, far away I used MS Outlook and became accustomed to the highlighting feature. I switched to TB years ago and have missed the ability to highlight text ever since.

ConQuery

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I use ConQuery in Thunderbird so that I don't have to copy/paste searches into Firefox. Shadow912's version for Firefox 5.0.* works with Thunderbird 5.0 if you hack the install.rdf file. Although I use this ConQuery in Thunderbird I do not use it in Firefox 5.0. Instead, I use Context Search (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/context-search/) because it offers more or less the same functionality and is kept up to date by its developer. Anybody desiring the functionality of ConQuery without all the hassles should look to using Context Search.

Re-Pagination

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

It's really a shame that this extension is no longer supported. I guess it's because more people don't understand what an awesome and powerful tool this extension really is, and how it can enhance your browsing experience.

I'm delighted that it works with FF 3.0 (if you hack it), but it is in need of additional development work beyond a simple compatibility upgrade. (Some minor bugs do exist.)

Regardless, I will continue to hack it and use it with each new version of FF until it is either supported again, or until it becomes completely incompatible with FF.

Thanks for reading!

UnMHT

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I've been looking for something like this for a couple of years. I hate having to open .hmt files in Internet Exploder.

Even though this extension is still experimental, I have not had any problems using it in FF 3.0.5. I also haven't noticed any compatibility problems with the other 33 extensions I have installed.

Good work arai_a!

Splash!

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I find this extension quite useful--especially when introducing Firefox to a first-time user. I even have it installed on my machines; it's nice to get a visual confirmation that FF is loading.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.0.0.1).

Copy Plain Text

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Pros: Does exactly what it says: copies whatever you have selected (on a web page) while removing all formatting in the process. I use this extension constantly.

Cons: Needs an option to create a user-defined keyboard shortcut. Needs to be updated for FF3.0.

It does work with FF3.0b3 if you use the MR Tech Local Install extension to overwrite 'maxVersion' compatibility testing. You can also use the Nightly Tester Tools extension to overwrite 'maxVersion' compatibility testing.

Thank you Jeremy Gillick!

Update Notifier

This extension is so very useful that it should be standard in Firefox and Thunderbird. I no longer have to remember to check for updates to my numerous extensions.

I got it to work with Thunderbird 2.0 by using MR Tech Local Install and checking the "Override 'maxVersion' compatibility checking" box.
