mailminder 1.1.0
Works like a charm with some considerations….
It took a little bit of mental gymnastics but here is the process flow that I have put together:
1) Customize Thunderbird’s menu by adding the “Follow-Ups” button
2) Create a local folder: mailminder pending
3) Set these options in mailminder:
... a) Default action: Flag/Star message
... b) Icebox folder: (Local Folders) mailminder pending
4) Launch mailminder (context menu, or button on email’s menu bar)
... a) Set date and time for reminder
... b) insure that Action is “flag/Star message”
... c) insure that “Move to icebox folder” is checked
5) How to verify that mailminder is managing the email?
... a) Click the “Follow-Ups” button on the Thunderbird menu
... b) View the contents of (Local Folders) mailminder pending
... c) Open the message in (Local Folders) mailminder pending
... d) click on the “Followup” button on the email’s menu bar to display mailminder’s settings for the message
6) When mailminder displays its Reminder dialog, note that the email has been returned to origin folder and that it is now starred.
7) In Thunderbird’s inbox display (or unified inbox display), sort messages on “starred” to locate the email
8) Dismiss the reminder by either:
... a) clicking on the “Dismiss” button in the reminder dialog
... b) deleting the reminder for the email via Thunderbird’s “Follow Ups” button
... c) canceling the reminder from the email’s “Follow Ups” button
... d) As needed, use Thunderbird’s “un-mark” function to remove the star from the email
When setting/unsetting mailminder functions, be patient, it seems that it takes a brief amount of time for mailminder to process the request. It is all too easy to set multiple mailminder “reminders” for an email; use Thunderbird’s “Follow-Ups” button to verify…...
