(Welcome ... Ed;)
If you wanna search 15 subtitle sites of your choosing with just one click AT THE SAME TIME, in background tabs, Yes You Can! with this addon.
Whether it's searching 53 torrent sites (my record), or 7 video sites, or maybe a combination of 5 torrent-sites plus 7 subtitle-sites plus 13 video-sites, you can do that with this addon.
The great thing about this addon is that it's really fully configurable, but it comes with preconfigured settings if you just can't be bothered.
No other add-on has its versatility, the others are all limited to sites that they are affiliated with. Soyapi's SearchWith is completely independent.
If you do decide to configure it to your needs follow this
Guide:
The best strategy is to [first] name a Service, (e.g. SearchMyVideos Service), [secondly] add a couple of new Engines (one per site like Youtube.com/GoogleVideo.com/Livevideo.com) and then [thirdly] attach them to that service (e.g. SearchMyVideos Service)
First phase - Adding a Service
1. Go to SearchWith Options via the addons menu. or the context menu (choose Manage Services)
2. Type a name in the Service Name field, hit Add Service,
3. Then in the Edit Service dialogbox that comes up, type the same name again in Service Name field there, hit OK.
Second phase - Adding Engines
1. Go to SearchWith Options via the addons menu. or the context menu (choose Manage Services)
2. Go to the Engine tab. Configure one, by typing a name in the upper field, then hit Add Engine button. In the appearing "Edit Engine" box, fill out the first 3 fields.
Engine Name:
KickAssTorrents
Search Adress:
For example, "http://www.kickasstorrents.com/search/"
Extra Options:
For example "/?from=opensearch"
Now, use the "Service" drop down menu at the bottom to pick the service you just set, in our example, SearchMyVideos Service
Click OK when finished
3. Repeat this for every engine you want.
The easiest way to do all of this is copying one of the default ones, of course.
addition by MyRegs (I didn't forget, I didn't KNOW!;) thanks, now it's even better!:
"when editing services, you can select the new line of the service, below 'Disabled' but you have to hit enter on the keyboard in order to set the choice."

"way too complicated" ??? Only if you're 10 years old. Go back to your IE browsing then. Firefox itself is "way too complicated" for IE users.
Okay, I've seen ContextSearch and SmartSearch
and they both HUGELY LACK in functionality.
They are Inferior to the SearchWith add-on, cos they lack:
1. the ability to search multiple search-engines (2, 3 or 35) in the background, with each its own tab.
2. the ability to open text URLs (non-clickable URLs) into a new tab. Example: you see an url on a page like http://www.WTF-is-that.com. And it's not a hyperlink. So, with SearchWith, you can select that, rightclick it, browse to the 'address-bar item' and it will open in a new tab. This one does NOT do that.
ContextSearch is fully dependent on your FF search bar, whereas SearchWith is fully configurable on it's own. This allows you to keep the searchbar clutterfree, limit it just to those engines you need on a daily basis.
Also SmartSearch, you have to build it up from scratch, and after you've done that it still sucks, lacks functionality.

Okay, so now I finally figured out how to get it working. I can now select a movie title (or whatever) and search for it on 20 torrentsites (or whatever sites)
1. You have to create a new SERVICE first, call it SeekCrap1 or something
2. THEN you have to add one or more new engines.
3. And then you ADD the engines to the services.
at some point, the service called SeekCrap1 becomes avalaible in the rightclickmenu, it's not greyed out anymore.
tip1
remember you CANNOT delete engines from services just like that, you have add them to a different service. Yes, that's crappy and bad design, but I guess Soyapi is busy with being a politician, so ...
tip2:
do a search for whatever you want, (lets say, the movie AVATAR) with your favourite searchengine first. this will produce an URL that looks like this:
http://favouritesearchengine.com/xxxx.php?action=Search&search=AVATAR&type=0
This is consists of three parts:
1. http://favouritesearchengine.com/xxxx.php?action=Search&search=
2. AVATAR
3. &type=0
When you create/add a searchengine, you put string (1) in the Search Address field, and you put (3) in the Extra Options field. Then you attach the engine with the dropdown arrow under Services to a service.
Now, if you have a service with several search-engines attached to it, then they will each open in a different background tab.
This addon requires some work but if you take the 12 minutes to figgr it out, it saves you a lot of time and grief and effort. Like most things in life.

This used to be simply THE BEST addon everrrrr. Really. Until it tried to improve itself and it became buggier and buggier, or rather, it's now the most stable and secure add-on, but it's simply stopped being useful.
It used to be possible to add Services, and Engines. It was never easy to work it out, and afterwards one could never really tell how one has done it, but in the end, you got more engines, and more ways to search a thing.
But now ..... you're stuck with searching the five awful default search engines, maybe one or two extra, but that is it.
It still is great to open up urls which aren't links, but compared to what it once was, it REALLY SSSSUXXX B@@@LLLZZZ ....... big time.
To create your own collections, you must have a Mozilla Add-ons account.
