Use Google SSL Search or Encrypted Google Search or Secure Google Seach in Firefox search bar. Search data and result will be send by https protocol.
This search addon includes encrypted Google Suggest.
If it still jump to local Google Search without SSL, just click the "Go to Google.com" at Google Homepage.
