great and a must... but...
the only thing missing in this add-on is that the window does not refresh after switching dictionary. I have 2 dictionaries and when switching from one to the other my red underline corrections remain underline, although the should not in the new language. I need to click in another window, then it refreshes. There must be a way to do this in the switch script? Otherwise. Good job. A must! :)

Great add-on, extremely useful in an international work environment.

Doesn't seem to work with Thunderbird 17. Idea is great though, will rate better when fixed.
This extension was merged with and superseded by https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/dictionary-switcher/ long ago.

Es erscheint nur ein Feld "Rechtschreibprüfung" unten rechts das aber ohne Funktion ist - schade.

Unfortunately auto language switching doesn't work since Thunderbird 8 on Windows and it makes Thunderbird not responding. After a while it is possible to stop the script via the TB dialog. I had to disable the it. Can you please fix this again?

Works like a charm with my "Deutsches Wörterbuch (de-DE), alte Rechtschreibung" Add-on. https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/deutsch-alte-rechtschreibung/

One of my most valued addons! Sadly, since TB 9.0.1 it causes a full TB crash when switching between English (GB) and Dutch libraries.

Works as advertised, although I've only tested it briefly. I do want to point out that you do need to set the hidden property mentioned in the description for the automatic switching to work. Why is this not set as default?

...And it's (finally) "compatible" again. But no control appears in the TB8 status bar, so I can't actually use the add-on anymore, which is a shame, because I used to use it all the time. I really miss it. Right now, it's like having my cake, but not having the chance to eat it.
It's also unfortunate that v1.3 is not compatible with TB8.

Essential for my work.
Important remark: Dictionary Switcher is compatible with Thunderbird 5.0 after installation of Add-on Compatibility Reporter ( https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/ ) in Thunderbird.
Thank you very much for this addon :-)

Very nice extension!
As I frequently switch languages I think the auto-detect option is great.
One feature request though: It would be nice to have auto-detect turn of automatically once I manually select a language in the status bar.
Thanks!

Very valuable extension that should even become a core ability in my opinion. The autoselcetion of the proper dictionary should become an option in the preferences and it should be documented how it works.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.1.4).Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Great add-on. Very useful, since I write mails both in Dutch and in English. It would be nice though, if it would be possible to give the order in which the dictionaries are checked, because now it chooses US-English while I use UK-English.
Nevertheless I like the extension very much.

A very good add-on. Most useful. It would be nice if the order in which the dictionaries are checked could be set. Now it chooses US-English, while I am writing UK-English.
Nevertheless I appreciate the extension very much. Clever!

Great extension!
Apparently some people made a version compatible with TB3, which the original developer is hosting on his site: http://en.design-noir.de/mozilla/dictionary-switcher-tb/
Thanks!

It does work smoothly for me, thanks so much!
Unlike Klaus, I had to change the extensions.dictionary-switcher.autodetect key and set it to TRUE in order to have it working.
After my installation this option was set to FALSE.
I noticed that the switch of the language does not depend on the person you write to, but on the text of the mail.
Keep up the good work!
