Nostalgy++/ Manage, search and archive emails

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Great add-on! I had been using the 'Quicker Filer' add-on [https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-us/thunderbird/addon/quicker-filer/], but since the project was abandoned and it was about time for me to update Thunderbird to the newest version, I decided to use Nostalgy++ instead.

It does all that Quicker Filer does, and better.
There is only one thing I'm missing dearly though:
Quicker Filer would also provide a folder completion box inside the message compose/reply window. The message would then be automatically saved to the selected folder after the 'Send' button is pressed, thus saving me from having to go back to the 'Sent Mail' folder and saving the message using the 's' key.

Also, while having a folder selected in the folders pane, and doing any of the following, the folder completion box inside the resulting compose window would automatically be populated with that folder:
- click on 'Write' button to compose a new message inside that folder.
- click on 'Forward' or 'Reply' button of a message inside that folder.

Cheers.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.3.1).

I also have deferred update to TB60, because I don't want to lose the features offered by this add-on.

I use Quicker Filer every day, and it's great:
1. Hit your keyboard shortcut.
2. Type in some (partial) words to find your folder
3. Press enter to file and... Boom! Done!

I did try the Quick Folder Move, but it lacks the search capabilities of multiple words (regardless of order in which they are input). For instance, with Quicker Filer I can search for a folder like 'GMail Server/Projects/123456-Customer-DoorRepair' by just entering 'proj door', and it would narrow down all possible folders/subfolders that match those (partial) words. Very quick way to file emails!

All other tools I've tried so far, allow only one-word matching, or you have to do the search in several steps, which I thing defies the purpose of "quick" filing.

Would love to see if Eivind Rovik comes up with a new version compatible with newer versions of Thunderbird.
