Was working a few days ago but the badge is showing 9 when there is nothing unread now. TB v68.5.0 (updated recently).

Only the main inbox (for each account) is counted. If rules are set up moving emails into other folders these are not included.

I minimize to the system tray - it would be nice to see that number there as well. Dunno if that's possible, plus it is rather small over there.

Unfortunately, I'm not aware of an interface to change the icon in the system tray, so I don't think that I can update that one at all. (Also, why minimize to the system tray when you can pin Thunderbird to the Windows taskbar? :) )

E-mails in other folders should be counted, but Thunderbird has to be aware that there's new mail in those folders. You might need to select 'When getting new messages for this account, always check this folder' in the folder properties, perhaps?
