Some clever person placed the solution on Add-on home page

every time I opena new memssage I get an error that I must first add an ldap server or disable it, but there is no place to disable ldap. What gives?
It does pull images from gravatar from what i can see though.

Maury, I found a fix for TB 52. The extension is looking for a preference which no longer exists, but you can add it back easily. Open TB's Config Editor and add a new Integer key called "alerts.totalOpenTime". This is the amount of delay (in milliseconds) before the tooltip is shown when you hover over the photo. I've set mine to 1000 (= 1sec).
As for the review, I like the flexibility of image sources this extension allows, but I'm not going to use it. Simply put, it's ugly. Adding a picture to the header is purely an aesthetic change, and I just find the way it's done to be unattractive. Let's call it three stars. Very good functionality but the appearance doesn't suit me.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0).Sadly that LinkedIn decided not to support Outlook Connectors anymore.

Amazing addon (awesome, even!). The developer is extremely friendly and patient, assisting with queries on the addon. Also, looking at the beta version (which I am using now), it is simply getting better and better.
Thank you for your hard work.

Love this add-on. It's compatible with thunderbird converstations which is a nice plus (it tiles the pictures vertically at the side of the email windows when converstations add-on is enabled rather than at the top which is I think very appropriate).
Would love to see a feature where I could set priority on which photo is used. i.e. prefer linked-in photo if both linked-in and facebook have photos.
The latest beta version has an ugly UI for you to config which photo can be used in advanced settings.

Great App! Is it possible to:
* Align the photo's left, so that is placed before the To/Subject-information? (like the icons on this page are placed before the text).
* Show only the photo of the sender (not the receiver).
P.S. Beta-edition includes the first option, but then the photo's are not aligned to each other. One stands bottom-left and the other top-left. Anyway, it is great that Wang Opera develops further. Great addition for Thunderbird.
You can try https://code.google.com/p/ldapinfo/source/browse/beta/ldapinfo-1.1-tb.xpi , the beta version has an option to show photo left.
It would need another option to only show the photo of sender.
Thanks.

I am using it in a peculiar way, without LDAP (sic). It seems not be possible to disable completly the LDAP fonction, just for using local directory pictures and social networks' avatars. It works, but I am having an error pop-up message each time I launch TB: "error: can't find any LDAP server in adress book, please setup on first !"So close to the 5th star ! Another suggestion: add the posibility to choose to view pictures left, center or right in windows' messages.
EDIT: Works great with the new 0.9 version: no more pop-up error message. 5th star added :)
The addon is developed first for LDAP only, then add social network support later, however it seems social network is more attractive and I even think of renaming this addon :-)
Anyway disable the LDAP support in option thus remove the warning is easy and already done in change http://code.google.com/p/ldapinfo/source/detail?r=faee16174e60d28604af0b1f249199aa3b57036c
The option to view picture left/center/right might be lower priority and probably do in later version.

Now it does exactly what I need. The linkedin support is amazing!!
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.8). This user has a previous review of this add-on.Rated 1 out of 5 stars
This doesn't work as simply as implied. Very difficult to configure with LinkedIn - in fact I wasn't successful in doing so. I need to remove the add-on to be able to continue using Thunderbird.
The specific error message is "Password error for LinkedIn user ~ reset password!"
I don't see how to reset the password. There is evidently something stored somewhere that is sending an incorrect password.
It also tells me to set up an LDAP directory - what's that??
Yes, it's difficult to configure with LinkedIn, but it should works, as at least 4 persons succeed. To make it work, you first need to enable it in Option, and click 'OK' for the warning confirmation. You should already done that. Then It will ask for LinkedIn password through standard dialog. At last You need to confirm and add the certificate used by LinkedIn to TB's exceptions. You can check http://code.google.com/p/ldapinfo/wiki/Help for more details. Please write in more details so I can fix it.
Added:
I see, It means your password is not correct and LinkedIn refused it, so the addon reset the password saved in
TB and will let you input again. I'll change the words to make it more meaningful.
For LDAP, you see, this addon is initially to show avatar from LDAP/Active Directory, which mostly used in corporate
environment. And the Facebook/LinkedIn etc are added later. If you don't have an LDAP server, just ignore the warning.

Works fine with gavatar. But does it actually loads images for LDAP address book? Does not work for me. "LDAP Contact Photo" addon though works fine.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.4).You know that the add-on was just get reviewed and not much people are using it, so it may contain bugs. But I'd like to fix them if provided detail information.Do you have a working LDAP server and config it in address book? What's the addon version and Thunderbird version? Is your LDAP server require binding with password?Would you please enable 'verbose info' in add-on options dialog and the click the 'clear cached...' button, and then click one mail to let the add-on load from LDAP. If you see any suspicious message in the error console please send to me (opera.wang+ldapinfo@gmail.com).Thanks.

Seems due to mail domain not match settings in LDAP server, will also try the Name in next version.
