Hello, is there any chance to upgrade to latest Thunderbird version?

Hello,

I have two suggestions for improvement.

One is if you click on the lightning bolt in a message and then you choose settings and then you close the settings and then you click on the lightning bolt again the menu including all previous templates that already exist disappears. Now they don't really disappear as when you reopen the message they appear again but there seems to be some bug when you open it close it the settings window and then try to activate it again what does work is to click in the upper part of the small rectangle that opens for some reason that seems to be the area where the settings are.

The other thing is it would be really helpful to have an HTML display when you say you want to insert it as HTML that you can actually see it as HTML so you can correct problems quickly basically a preview obviously the next step would just be a what you see is what you get editor.

This is an updated review/question. What is the latest version of Thunderbird that users are successfully installing Quicktext 6.4.7 November 15, 2025 on (Windows)? I am currently running 143.01. Downgrading to 140.6.0esr has its' own set of problems. The last time that I did a Thunderbird downgrade, I was fortunate to have backups of my profile to restore from. Thanks!

Love this love this love this.... however just installed TB 146 and this is not compatible. Any work arounds?

GOOD NEWS 4 XMAS : QuickText add-on WORKS again!
A team of developers rewrote it - thanx to all incl John Bieling
You can download the xpi from Github
https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/quicktext/versions/
Then import xpi in TB
QuickText is still one my favorite add-on for TB

Thanks for the review. Regarding the update: I am sorry, but I do not have the resources. I explained it in more detail here:

Short: Quicktext is supported on the current ESR version of Thunderbird (140.*), which only gets security fixes, but no major add-on breaking changes until summer 2026. Quicktext is not supported on the new monthly release channel, which is updated to a new major version every 4 weeks.

Die Methode, die geladene XPI Datei zu entpacken, den Zähler "strict_max_version" in der Datei "manifest.json" auf einen höheren Stand zu setzen, alles wieder packen, in .XPI umbenennen und installieren, funktioniert auch hier wieder.

A very helpfull extension that i use every day. I just don't understand why the fix we had at the end of the summer doesn't work anymore as i did'nt do any thunderbird update since. Each times the extension get off, i waste a lot of time writing the same things 10 or 20 times a day. Hope a new fix will com soon. Thanks a lot for the great job you do every times.
