Go to Linkification Options > Functionality tab and where it says "Auto-Linkify Whitelist/Blacklist" add the following:

localhost,google.com,hotmail.com,live.com,amazon.com,facebook.com,mail.live.com

Make sure "Never Auto-Linkify the following domains" is checked and "Only Auto-Linkify the following domains" is unchecked.

Those sites should stop freezing unless another add-on is having issues.

Linkification has worked fine for me for a few years I just wish I could move the add-on button to the new bar on Firefox 29.
