As someone who uses Thunderbird exclusively to interact with Linux kernel mailing lists with text-only e-mail, I almost always have line wrap turned on to meet the expectations of that community. But there are also many times when I need to send long lines, such as when sending kernel logs, and this add-on is essential to do this quickly. Of course this means I have to manually split other lines outside the ones I don't want split, but that is also easy to manage by toggling on, entering newlines in the lines I need to manually split, and then toggling off before sending the final message.
