I tried adding this to Thunderbird both from with the Add On tab and by loading it as a file and no Clean Mail button every appeared in the tool bar, drop down menus, or anywhere else I could think to look. So... as far as I can tell it does not work if one cannot access it at all.

I'm sorry to hear you had trouble with the add-on, but I hope we can find a solution to your problem.

First, could you check that it was properly installed via the Add-ons Manager ? If you can see it in your list of extensions, go to the Mail tab. If you have previously customized your toolbar, you'll need to add CleanMail manually: right-click the toolbar → Customize → drag CleanMail onto the toolbar → Save. You should then see a result like in screenshot 1. The button/icon should be in the top right.

If that doesn't fix the issue, could you let me know your Thunderbird version (Help → About), along with any other details that would help me reproduce the problem?

I really like this add-on. The interface is clean and well laid out. It is easy to load using its built in menu in the top right. Quick scan and easy to remove bulk messages from same sender. It is easy to use and has been very helpful in reducing the excess bloat in my email. Thank you. Now to find something similar but for duplicate emails.
