Black screen. Crashed X server and GDM.
Suse Linux Enterprice Desktop 12 SP3, Seamonkey 2.49.1
UPD: I'm using Gallium 0.4 on AMD RS880 (DRM 2.43.0 / 4.4.73-5-default, LLVM 3.8.0)
GDM? Impossible. It runs as a different user.
It's probably something with your graphics driver.

I like this add-on very much, thanks a lot! With charamel theme it looks much better with lightbird than without. Moreover, I made a new launcher with 'thunderbird --calendar' command so it can be launched as a stand-alone app, which is pretty neat.
One bug though: clicking in Edit>Preferences does not do anything. Do you have any idea about that? To edit preferences I need to go back to the main Thunderbird window (or open it if it wasn't), go to main Preferences and go to Lightning tab, which is a bit annoying but still a minor thing.
Thanks!
Could you open an issue on github about that? Thanks :)
Edit: it works fine for me, so please include info such as used OS and Thunderbird version, and possibly a log from error console

Have Thunderbird 52.x.x installed on two Macs running El Capitan. Both computers show entered lightning calendar events as starting at 00:00 in day and week calendar views. Does not matter what the start time entered is, the event shows up in these two view modes as starting 00:00. Makes the calendar virtually useless. In lightbird it is fine - it displays it as it should. I personally would prefer to have the calendar tabbed as in Lightning, but until that is fixed this add-on solves the problem we are having. Hoping it will continue to run problem free.
Thank you for your efforts - will gladly donate.
Actually it shouldn't be different, but glad it works for you. :)

I would not use such hard word, but I must repeat (in enlgish) that your software looks like pure rubbish. I know what I write. Bear in mind that I'm using Thunderbird from the very beginning (say version 1 or 2). I too wrote software producing my portion of rubbish. You are not alone.
Try to contact a friend that speaks italian and have a translation of my vote.
So long.
Ok, so you write something knowing that I wouldn't understand it. Then what's the point? If something doesn't work, open an issue on github. If you just don't like it, then why using it and spamming reviews?

Works, in that Lightning is displayed in a separate Window, as it really ought to be from a usability perspective. However, other Lightning extensions, such as Lightning Calendar tabs don't work. That's a pity, and I won't be able to use this otherwise fine add on, until that is sorted.
Это отзыв для предыдущей версии этого дополнения (0.6).This should be fixed in those extensions instead. Firstly, they don't know about Lightbird. Secondly, even if I could do some hack to load them on the Lightbird window instead of Mail window, they will fail because the UI is different.
So, that's impossible, sorry. It's just the way things work, same as Firefox extensions don't work on SeaMonkey unless ported or converted.

This extension allows you to launch Thunderbird's best feature independent of the email client.
The only bug I've found so far is the red line rarely shows the current time as it should.
A "wishlist" item for me would be the ability to show the mini calendar and calendar list stacked on top of each other, as in vanilla Lightning, instead of in separate tabs. I don't use the task list (I have a separate application for that), so there's a good deal of wasted space in that pane.
Also nice to see the developer actively responding to reviews.
Hi, thanks for the review. I don't plan to allow it in the extension itself (it's barely usable on small screens or in a non-maximized window when the tasks are also used), but you can use this as a workaround:
https://github.com/Exalm/lightbird/issues/31#issuecomment-230282831
And as for the red line, I experience that behavior in Lightning as well.

Great Extension - Love it. But the switch to DST breaks it. It shows the wrong "current time" in the calendar, and doesn't show notifications at the correct time. Lightning works fine with this extension disabled. (it subtracts an hour, rather than adding one.)
BTW - to be clear - it's one star because it appears to break an essential functionality of any calendar. As I said, it's 5 star otherwise.
Submit a bug to Github please. The country I live in doesn't use DST, so I cannot test it myself, so I need more info. And note that giving one star for just a bug doesn't make me fix it sooner.

It works out of the box on Debian-Linux (Icedove and Thunderbird).

It's everything I wanted as I work in a Google Apps environment. The only thing is that the red "this is the time" line isn't accurate. Not sure if that's a bug or my settings. Refreshing calendars doesn't help. Other than that I would give it 5 stars. Looking forward to v.4!
Thanks for the reply. I've changed the calendar.view.timeIndicatorInterval to 5 minutes, hopefully that will help without hogging too many resources.
Settings. Not exactly yours, but rather Lightning (not even Lightbird) default settings. I honestly don't know if that's how it always been or it has been changed just recently, but please see this: https://github.com/Exalm/lightbird/issues/15
If it's not the same, feel free to reopen that bug.

I like that add-on. Since I have to use Outlook now businesswise, I wondered, how to get my private CalDAV-Ressource on my machine, without letting it go via the companies exchange server. Lightbird is a nice solution.
Nevertheless, I would like to know how to get it startet without the Thunderbird, which I am not using on this machine?!
It can't run independently, it's an extension.
You can, however, use SeaMonkey and set it to only open calendar window on start. For a completely standalone calendar there is Sunbird.
Edit: In 0.4 you can do launch Thunderbird with -calendar option to get Lightbird window without the main TB window.

This is a terrific Add-on, especially considering that SunBird Calendar is no longer under any real development. Using the "lightening" extension plugin in Seamonkey, Lightbird adds an additional separate calendar component, that can be used as a stand alone Calendar . Running the Lightbird Calendar in Seamonkey by itself runs at about 110-140 M ram.
My experience using the Lightning extension on Seamonkey which is required to make Lightbird work:
You must find and download the Lightning extension from its "Beta" page, to make it work on Seamonkey.
If you use a local calendar, note where the ".ics" file is for each calendar OR
export your calendar as an ICS file to your own customize folder location and reopen (File -> Open calendar)... this because Lightening tends to break on new Seamonkey updates... however the local ics files are still preserved if you need them immediately. together lightning, lightbird and Seamonkey are a good calendar option.

I happened to be happy with that extension... until I updated to SeaMonkey 2.23. Since then, nothing works in my Calendar: the window opens but nothing to be read, edited or displayed in any other time format (day, week, etc). This is a major feature break and a definite burden for my daily work. The add-on is though said to be compatible with 2.23... What can be the source of the issue? I am on Windows 7 64 bits.
Это отзыв для предыдущей версии этого дополнения (0.3).The source is Lightning being incompatible with 2.23. It has nothing to do with Lightbird.https://www.google.com/search?q=lightning+2.23
Edit: Wait, what?!

So you haven't updated Lightning to 2.8b1. Can you remove the review please? For questions there are:
1. Github issue tracker.
2. My e-mail.
And this isn't even my fault...

I like it and it gives seamonkey better function

Marvellous, I've wanted something like this for so long, to make the calendar a proper part of SeaMonkey, accessible from the component bar. This does that, and strips it out from MailNews, tidying up both components.
