What’s New in Excel2Mail

This release focuses on reliability, formatting accuracy, and real-world Excel workflows.

✅ Excel formatting preserved

Borders, background colors, fonts, and alignment from Excel tables are now retained when pasting into emails.

Excel’s internal styles are converted into email-safe inline formatting for better compatibility with Gmail, Outlook, and Yahoo Mail.

✅ Plain-text fallback (new)

If Excel does not provide rich HTML (for example in RDP, Citrix, CSV files, or restricted environments), Excel2Mail automatically pastes a clean, structured table instead of failing.

Ensures something always pastes when the toolbar button or shortcut is used.

✅ One-click paste (no extra UI)

Click the toolbar icon to paste immediately at the cursor position.

No popups, dialogs, or additional buttons.

Keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Q continues to work as before.

✅ Improved stability

Uses a proven insertion method directly in the compose window.

Eliminates silent failures seen in earlier versions.

Tested with Thunderbird 115 ESR, 128, and newer builds.

Due to email client restrictions:

Conditional formatting and gradients may not be preserved.

Column auto-width may differ slightly between email clients.

Excel2Mail does not collect:

Clipboard or Excel data

Usage statistics or analytics

How is data used?

The add-on accesses clipboard content only when the user explicitly activates the add-on (toolbar button or keyboard shortcut) to paste formatted Excel content into the Thunderbird compose window.
All processing happens locally on the user’s device.

Does the add-on share data?

No.
Excel2Mail does not transmit data to any external servers or third parties.

Does the add-on use remote servers or analytics?

No.
The add-on works fully offline and makes no network requests.

Permissions

All requested permissions are required solely for the core functionality of inserting formatted Excel content into email compose windows. No permissions are used for tracking or data collection.
