Чуть более подробно…

Windows 7, 64 bit
Avira Free
Tiny wall
Multiple security extensions
Malwarebytes
Suprer anti Virus
Ccleaner

Browser of choice:
FF (for now)
Opera (really improved)
Chrome (when I have to)
IE, I'd remove it but Windows Update won't work without it. All but disabled, just breathing enough for for Updates to find it.

Dear Developers,

Thanks for all your hard work. This extension has been great! Been using it for years

As Mozilla seems to be making future development/updates of really great extensions “precarious” I wanted to find out if this update will be problematic or breakdown in the future? In other words should I stay where I’m at?

I’m currently using the last version. I’ve disabled auto updates because new FF compliance's have already broken a few extensions (or will cause breakdown in the future). The first example of this coming to mind is/was X-Notifier. The last two versions are FF compliant, but don’t function. They…. suck. Not the developers fault, he warned months ago this would happen with Moz changing policies and updates. Yet everyone initially screamed at him when it broke down. There was a temporarily a work around, rolling back 2 versions. This made everything work again, but then with another FF update, even the legacy version only partly works.

So In regards to your extension, would you recommend updating to the latest version, or stay with the previous one which I’m running?

My Machine; Window 7 64 bit, latest FF 64 bit version for windows.

One more issue, and if you don’t have time for this one no problem.

I’ve read that if users install FF 52 ESR (I’m not sure what it is and if it’s secure), all legacy versions will work. Wouldn’t using a legacy version of FF, as well as extension present a security risk?

This really sucks for FF developers and users. I really hate Chrome, it’s heavy on resources, super proprietary, nosy and intrusive as hell. I have no idea why Moz is killing the best part of FF, the extensions. Especially security and utilities extensions. The other stuff I could care less.

Also, if Moz is going to make life difficult to impossible (depending on which developer you’re talking to, and their extension) for developers, why don’t you all go to Opera? I’m betting a lot of people would follow.

It’s my second choice browser, and although it’s Chromium based, it’s lightweight and even has a VPN built in. But they have mostly lame apps.

You’re opinion/feedback on this whole Moz turning FF into Chrome and how to proceed would be appreciated!

Thanks for every thing!

First THANK YOU to the developer, for a long time this ext. has severed me well.
Developer, tell me the truth, should I update your extension or stay with the previous? Most ext. updates have been seriously weakened by Moz’s new protocol.
Since Mozilla started this API thing, all the best apps are falling apart. These are the things that brought me to FF in 03’ after my only PC virus via that thing some still call a browser… IE.
Don’t get me wrong (Millennials you’re probably not gonna’ get this) but Microsoft, i.e. IE, Office, hotmail, Outlook Express were the gold standard. Even back in the 90’s it was easy to figure out AOL had problems, but Yahoo was my home page on IE for years. I had one, yes one email acc. And I had my privacy, probably because the I Phone, Fake Book, and Twatter had not yet been developed.
If you’re under 40 you have no idea how cool the internet was, also how unobtrusive and how your employer didn’t mandate you use IT. As a teacher and a coach I saw the value of Word, and Excel. It wasn’t mandated, but when applicable to work I used it. It was a tool, not a ball and chain. And very few sites/software were a Malware concern. Heck, we weren’t even sure what malware was. The only thing I understood that holds true today was/is passwords can’t be 1,2,3,4 or “password”. But most of my PW’s were 4-6 characters and we were pretty safe.
My mistake was I didn’t yet know IE was insecure, that there were alternatives, and didn’t value AV software. I’d let my free 90 day AV from McAfee on my Gateway (yeah, laugh, please) lapse when I bought in 99’. I had no idea what Avira free, SPAM, Malwarebytes were at that time.
Fast forward to the Google Era.
Now FF is killing it’s best developers in either an attempt to become a Chrome Clone, or out of compliance to Google. Moz, do you want to be the new Yahoo or IE? Just keep digging that hole.
When I see users vitching at developers like Mr. Kang who made X-notifier (I now have like 7 email accounts), I get pissed off. Good stuff, that’s free and out of their control… Big Brother doesn’t like that. That’s why I dumped my Mac in the late 80’s. Proprietary sucks, sorry I-folks but Mr. Jobs really screwed us all. Even with legacy ext. Rollbacks when possible, eventually the FF extension/software are broken/rejected. It’s a blanking shame.
FF, remember when you were Netscape? If you assimilate, you will die. Yahoo turned into a turd around the time the I Phone was introduced… hmm?
I find myself using Opera more and more. Yeah, I’m first to admit the extension mostly suck, but they have U Origions and HTTPS Everywhere. Also Opera has it’s own VPN built in, which Google seems to kinda’ hate. So FF, if you hassle No Script, I’m done w/FF.
Again, THANKS to the developer and years of great service!!!
Consider bolting to Opera or creating something new with other developers that isn’t Tor or Linux based if Moz makes continues to make life difficult.
You da’ man, man!

frustrating as all get out! I've had the same issues mentioned, loss of moving tabs and problematic hang ups at at browser exit. I researched for weeks trying to find out the issue but got nothing specific. I wound up doing an unnecessary profile re-fresh. A lot of wasted time.
This is the last extension I though would cause a problem.
I've really come to depend on this extension over the years. Why couldn't Mozilla just disable the slider component automatically? I've seen them make adjustments to other extensions until the issues could be resolved. Totally wasted my time. Love the extension but there's gotta' be a way to address problems so people don't wind up changing the engine when all they need is an alternator. Well, the slider disable worked... and it woulda' worked weeks ago:(
