When I saw this I was thrilled to bits that someone had developed this for Thunderbird. I have a Llama3 installed locally. Works like a charm once I read the instructions correctly! Create a plain text email rather than an html one.

Hi Chris, double-check that you are working with text emails, not HTML emails. Only text emails are supported so far, as mentioned in the addon description. If you want to help by testing and debugging an experimental version supporting some HTML emails, see https://github.com/JohannesBuchner/thunderbird-ai-grammar-mailextension/issues/2
