Hi,
I'm using Mac OS 10.12.2 and i use this wonderful extension to write in tamil, but while converting my webpage contents to pdf, the tamil characters are weird and i need to include those tamil fonts to my laptop (local Font folder). Pls help

Hi,

The encoding used by TamilVisai(Tamilkey) extension is Unicode. I think the PDF should work if your Mac OS version supports Tamil Unicode Fonts.

Since this issue is not only related to Tamilkey but all your applications that uses Tamil Unocode, please explore the possibility to fix Tamil Unicode issue at OS support level and let us know if the issue gets fixed.

Kindly pls help me I am unable to install the tamilvisai add on... everytime it is asking for restart but not installing.....

Hi,

Once its installed, it will show up when you right click on any text field in any of the website you are visiting in Firefox. Please let me know if it does not show.

You can also file a bug at http://tamilkey.mozdev.org/bugs.html if you think there is a bug in the installation.

for long time tamil key add on is not supporting latest ff. please fix it asap. ( seems like no body is working on it )

I dont know where to make this request. Giving it here so that it may come to your notice.

Can you make a similar (tamil key) like plugin for songbird. It will be really useful. Write now I use ekalappai with songbird. But a plugin will be really helpful

Thanks to this awesome plugin. I am using it for past 6 months. Its so precise and wonderful. Switching to english and tamil by using hot keys is really nice. I am looking forward compatible update for firefox 3.5

Thanks for the information.

While it supports all the Indic languages that are supported by Google Transliteration, it is not supporting various Tamil keyboard layouts.

And also, the phonetic transliteration done by Google is not better for some words: Try 'guha' or 'guhapriya' in Google Tamil transliteration and you will know what I mean ;-)

It's a great tool to type in Tamil. This with "Save Text Area" ( https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1046 ) and a naive html file for a bit big text area can make firefox an ideal unicode text editor for Tamil :-)

i am using Bamini..

when we press backspace key

for example i have to type வணக்கம் i have typed my mistake like this வணகாம் so i have to edit.. i will use backspace key to correct .. i will delet upto கா .

now without looking at i will type like this வக்காம் ..................
it delete ண too...

Hi,
I added this to firefox today. I am using Ubuntu 8.04. I was attempting to reply to an email in Tamil. The email is under hotmai. I was using Firefox browser to access hotmail.
When I press Alt-F8, I see the blue border appears (I see from your other replies is switched to Tamil). When I type the keyboard selection is totally messed up. I wanted to exit that mode and type in English afterwards. Though the blue boarder around the message disappeared, I could not type in English or in Tamil. I was getting Tamil characters - but the key assignments were messed up.
I am not sure how to proceed further. So I Uninstalled the add on at this point. I would greatly appreciate your help for this issue.
