NestorAI is an AI assistant for Thunderbird designed to speed up email processing without leaving the mail client.
Main features:
- email analysis and reply-need assessment
- useful action suggestions based on message context
- reply draft generation adapted to the user's tone, profile, and response preferences
- a free-text field in `Nestor answers` to steer the draft in the direction the user wants
- folder filing and sorting assistance
- automatic extraction of replacement and emergency contact addresses found in message bodies (MailExtract) - useful for newsletter senders to keep their contact list up to date
- topic-based recaps to track important threads
- optional auto-scan for newly received messages
- support for documented cloud providers: OpenAI, Gemini, Anthropic
- support for local AI via `localhost` / `127.0.0.1`
Privacy and control:
- when a cloud provider is used, analyzed messages may be transmitted to that provider
- when local AI is used on the user's machine, message processing stays local
- connection secrets are excluded from backup exports
- the extension does not inject or execute remote code
NestorAI is intended for Thunderbird users who want an integrated email assistant with a clear choice between cloud usage and local processing for privacy.

- new `MailExtract` section in the dashboard: during auto-scan, when the AI detects a replacement or emergency contact address in an email body (out-of-office, delegation, holiday cover), that address is automatically recorded with the extracted reason
- technical addresses (noreply, postmaster, mailer-daemon, etc.) and addresses already present in the message headers are excluded
- the `MailExtract` table supports search by address or reason, period filters, pagination at 50 entries per page, and CSV export
- deduplication by email address: only the most recent occurrence is kept per address, earlier duplicates are automatically discarded
